Phosphate media which one?

I am going to run the phosphate reactor. which media do you recommended? I was gonna go with rowaphos but someone say it is metal base. Please give me your input on

Phosban (two little fishie)
Rowaphos
Phosar

I think any of the ones you listed will work well, I use Phosar.

I use Phosar, best thing is that it's tiny peletized form has more surface area and resists clumping which helps water pass through easier. It has less dust than competitors, rinsing clear in my Phosban reactor within 1/2 gallon. Phosban and Rowaphos took more than 2-3 gallons before they rinsed clear. Plus it's cheaper that Rowaphos and Phosban.

Another choice to consider is Phosar HC has twice the capacity of most other GFOs on the market.

I respect your opinion and knowledge for this hobby, so I have a question.
The directions for Phosar say NOT to rinse it out. Any reason that you are anyways? I haven't been rinsing it out and haven't had any ill effects to date.

They all say do not rinse. Realistically I'm not necessarily rinsing it. I put it in the reactor and turn it on. I just consciously forget to put the return hose in the tank until the output is clear. I just don't want to have the dust in my tank. There is no advantage/disadvantage to not rinsing unless by rinsing you mean rinsing with another water source like tap water. Then you are filtering phospates out of that water, which decreases the filtration capacity when you use it. I know if I run a filter sock then it will catch the dust but I normally dont run one.

I put the sock filter on the end of my reactor output for like 5-10 minutes which removes the dust but does not waste any water. Just FYI.

I use PhosoBan in a TLF reactor, it dances really well in the reactor. I only use the Phosoban when needed, than I switch it back to GAC.

I use a sock on the output all the time. You would be amazed at what the sock collects when the media breaks down into small pieces. It prevents the particles going through the return onto your nice white sand.

That is another advantage of Phosar. The pelletized form resist the breaking down that you will experience with other brands.

The Phosar now recommends light rinsing before use. It was a sticker placed on the small bucket of Phosar I just purchased.

So far, having tried all three of those brands, my first choice is Rowaphos. Keep in mind that I am still testing the Phosar. Phosar seems to fluidize in the reactor much better, sold dry (you get more for your dollar), but doesn't last nearly as long. The TLF stuff didn't really seem to do much of anything; maybe I should try it again to be sure.

I never really thought about blending two together; maybe we could be onto something!!

I love phosban, but know ROWA is a good product.

ROWA is on sale at www.reefgeek.com right now, thats why I am going with Rowa.

I looked into warner marine's phosar, but dont like what the granules look like. dont feel like running my water through that...im a snob

i use the blue life phosphate reducer.

a very small bottle for $30 or so but does an amazing job of bringing phosphates to undetectable on a salifert (which can mean zilch)...

but nonetheless, it has worked really nice with my system that is on zeo 9which doesnt recommend iron based phosphate removers)

Two Little Fishies ; they make a product called, "Phosban" hence their Phosban Reactors.

Has anyone used this product before? I always used ROWA before, but the price to product ratio was so good on this stuff compared to ROWA that I had to try it. I have not used it yet but will soon, and as a side note it comes in two type of grades (A and B) B of coarse is coarse:lol:
Any info on how they like it or have heard about it would be great.
