Hey guys.. im in need of some advise..
my phos been steady reading .00-.03 for the past months (other than a incident i had a few weeks ago where it went up to .06 due to over feeding)
i dont run no skimmer just weekly water changes-chemipure and a small amount of chaeto in back chamber.... is this a safe level for my tank. i have lps and a few sps. is .03 too high for sps.. im thinking about adding a lil phosban to my back chamber but i read that my clams need some phos in the water so im not sure what to keep it at?. my sps colors are good.. they started browing when i had my phos at .06 a few weeks ago but they are coloring back up. i hear phosban could mess with ph and alk

my sps are:
cap
digi
slimmer
birds of paradise\
purple nana
hakins ora or something like that--i got from Jarret
and some other frag i got from Dr harry
(i knew my phos was .06 cause my cap wasnt bright orange but thank God its coloring up)

.03 is a very respectable PO4 reading, if you're reading with a colorimiter. If you're using a titration test kit and getting that reading, chances are it's actually much higher.
If your corals look good, don't spend too much energy or time chasing numbers.

Hey buddy... as you know clams are filter feeders and supplimental feeding of some type of food are required for clams and SPS, especially if you have a ULNS. Majority of foods for corals do well for clams aswell.
Prestine water conditions are an absolute must for any type of reef tank and it's inhabitants. So continue with your weekly w/c's and watch what and how much you feed. I do not see 0.03 in PO4 as an issue for your tank. Anything higher, yes.
You'll know when something is off by exactly what you described in your post about colors and corals browning out. Thats your indicator....

As far as phosban issues.... I use a BRS Dual Reactor, I run GFO & BD Carbon and have not encountered any issues with it causing ph fluctuations or alk swings. So I'm alittle lost on that statement. GL you should be fine!

thanks for the reply guys.. i guess im jus a little paranoid.. i test my phos with a hanna meter.. its always .00 day after water change and .02-.03 day end of week(water change day).. i guess i am jus not sure why i still get algae buliding up on my glass and i get diatom blooms on my sand. the algae on sand is taken cared by my conch but i am asuming something is off..
