photo-acclimation with switch Metal halide to LED

Hi everyone.

I have mainly SPS tank (2X2X4) with two 250W 10,000K metal halide bulbs.
I am planning to switch to reef breeders photon v2 48".
How do I go about doing the switch? Do I start with white and gradually adding the blue? any other photo-acclimation concerns (PAR of MH is unknown to me)?

Should be blue x2 white intensity start low and climb slowly weekly or every ten days. Maybe even two weeks based on your observations of the reactions of your livestock.

Given you had two 250w MH over your tank before, it doesn't need the leds to be set too low at the start of acclimation. My best advice would be start the two blue channels at 50% to 60% and the white channel (which are 5w leds) at 20% to 30%. Then like Rob said, bump it up 5 or 10 points every week or two.

As to an end point in the power level rise, I have a 20" deep tank and my Photons are on the taller side of the legs. I hit 90% blue and 40% white for 4 hours of midday. I do a 5 hour sunrise and a 6 hour sunset. I think the last hour or 2 of my sunrise and the first hour or 2 of my sunset are also strong enough for the zooxanthellae to do photosynthesis. So that's 6 to 8 hours of strong light, the next hour at either end of the day may actually be intense enough as well.

I'd be interested to see what others recommend, or what comments they may have about my recommendations.
