Photo Copyright Infringement

I have had two different people copy my photos of the Rockford FragFest, currently posted at the uberfrags website, and post them in the CMAS forum in the past couple of days without my permission. This is an infringement of my copyright. I have asked the RC moderators to remove both threads. I take my photography seriously and, even though the photos posted were candid snapshots, I must protect all of my photos. Please do not copy or repost anyone's photos. It's bad form and illegal.
Thanks,
Gary

Why not put a watermark on it?

It does have my copyright line on the photo. Dave, I'm sorry. I know you were just doing it in fun, but I can't allow anyone to copy or post my photos, whether they are fun snapshots or serious coral shots.

Just curious.... Isn't anything that's posted on a public forum free game as long as it's not being used for profit? I guess I don't exactly understand how the whole copyright thing works with photo's...

and upon blowing the photo up I noticed a SMALL mark in the LR corner which I thought was part of the background.

Just curious, do you have model releases for any of those photos?

Since it was a public event, one of the sponsors asked me to photograph the event, the images were posted on the sponsor's website, and I'm not using them for any commercial/financial gain, I don't need model releases.

Remind me NOT to pay 5 bucks for my next 'public' event.... lol

I will admit, I was one of the first to repost his photos... I think making a deal about the photos and having them removed makes this hobby take 1 step back in he wrong direction.

A user had made a comment thanking me for posting the pictures cause he had never been to a frag swap and had no idea what to expect. So your request to have them removed, you are only hurting this hobby..

But I understand, you have own agenda, and I suspect yours is to promote & better that other website, not not this hobby.

Needless to say I will not contribute to that other message board or give them any money in a sponsored event, since their only goal is to better their site and not this hobby. (and the mods of this board also feel this way cause the site your referring to gets automatically deleted from the post)

I could understand if a site was using your photos for profit, but something like this seems a little ridicilous.

I'm sure its not the Rockford Reefers, THEY seemed to be nice folks. Just seems that if you focus on a close-up personal pic of a single person and not the event in general you should at least ASK that person if they mind. I wonder if Sara's image and face is "copyrighted". SHE should be the one complaining if she didn't agree to "promote" the event with her image. But Sara is too nice to complain. Too bad I didn't take some pics of the guy with all the camera gear. I could have sold them to the camera maker to promote their brand.

And here I thought I left this sort of stuff behind when I retired. LOL
