That would be more than bad...man I couldnt even imagin that!!

So would you stick the tank right on the cinderblocks? The 6 points that the tank would be sitting on the blocks wont brake right? I just have visions of this thing crashing down and slicing every ones toes off.

No, it should be fine. It would be similar to 6 people standing there holding the tank, right?

Don't stack them too high. I think two blocks high per column would be perfect, keeping the tank about knee-level.

If you want to put a small piece of wood on top of each block, that would be fine. Or small pieces of foam.

I would not place the tank right on the cinderblocks, I would get some extra foam and do what melev said and place it between the tank and the cinderblocks... As for the foam, make sure it's the pink foam...

ya i would use either foam or plywood . .. actually i would use plywood and cut notches off the sides of the plywood. that way you can touch the tank through the notches and lift it back into place!

j/w- wow you got back into your house quick lol did you have any flood damage? i read this thread a month or so ago but forgot if you had any flood damage! I had about 4" of water but we cant fix anything because my sister had a baby and they are living with us . .. and FEMA still hasnt delivered our trailer . . or even measured ( they said 2-4 weeks from now they will be here) ! so we are living with half walls, and some salvagable furniture . . . kinda a pain but we are lucky compared to others! ya we havent made much progress but once the trailer gets here we will hopefully get most of the stuff dont pretty fast! good luck

NOL,

It looks like your tank has black framing on the bottom. When you permanently place the tank on the stand, will it be sitting on the glass or the frame?

If its going to sit on the frame, I would not put any pressure on the bottom glass panel. You want to avoid any "point pressure" but everyone has kind of said that already.

Good Luck

Ok now, let me bring this sucker back from the dead..... WHATS THE DEAL????? Give me anything, just read 40 friggin pages, then 5 more after the split.......

Well there is no new news. Tank is still sitting on the stand empty...more I think about it the more I I think I should wait till after I move in a year to set it up. Right about the time it will be going good I will have to move. And even if its just fish that would be a pain. Still not positive what im doing...sad huh :( Frikken Katrina....messed up all kinds of stuff.

I did finaly get my GT last week...and believe it or not I still DO NOT have my acura back. I really have no idea whats the holdup other than storm problems....

EDIT ohh and one more update...im going to be a daddy :bounce2: We were trying and its my first.

You can ship the stand and equipment to me for a substantial loss to you and then start ordering your new tank and equipment for a year from now. :D That way you wont have to look at it all the time and wrack your brain over what to do.

Doesn't that sound like a great idea! :p

 no way am I selling that tank...there is just no way. Not with what I went through and never setting up. Its going up...may be in a year but it will go up! :P

hey congratulations! on the baby, that's great.

I understand not wanting to sell the tank, but what about lending out the equipment?

I hate to think that gorgeous skimmer is just sitting there not skimming.

I'll be happy to test it out for you, just to get any kinks out :P

another thought, what about setting up a small tank in the meantime, they can be fun too. we know you have the equipment :)

I could lease the equip huh

Ehh I have a 135,58,29 laying around but no stands for them really and no room in my tank room.

well I could use one more 250mh

I was thinking of a tank size like a 20 gallon.
Make a seahorse tank or something interesting like that.

I've had a tank set up for so long I don't know what life would be
like without one :p I guess it might be a nice break, not having that
anxiety all the time that something might go wrong etc. haha

if you do set up anything let me know, I'll send you a nice frag pack :D

I know what you mean...this is really the first time since I was in highschool (90-94) I didnt have some sort of fishtank. I have to say that is also one thing holding me back...its kinda nice to not have to worry about topping off water and cleaning the thing. See if I jimmy rig it for now I wont have my R/O hooked up or any type of auto top off. I will then always be at the water mill getting water....thats what I wanted to avoid when it was set up...im lazy and the tank would blow bubbles a lot :D

Edit: I will take you up on a frag pack when its up...I kinda lost everything I had :rolleye1:

Thats cool, congrats on being a daddy!!! So you like the gt?? I actually drive a Honda myself. So I can say this to you since you were formerly on the "OTHER" side lol. Do they seem fast?? I raced one about a week ago... and must say I wasnt impessed (since I won) But then again im running a t3-t4 at 19 psi!!!!

You should set up one of those other tanks lol. At least we shouldnt (hopefully) have anymore serious storms until you move. You could go ahead and start another growout tank for your coral...

Thats another thing...they are saying this storm season might be a doosy. The gulf waters are warmer than they should be already. We may have the same situation on our hands again in a few months. If I set up a tank it iwll be the 280.

I like it and I think its quick stock....but it can be made very fast with some work. I laready have a list of stuff on it and about to be on it :D The GT is putting down over 500 rwhp with a 10psi s/c. RWD is fun too...

cool. I had 310 at my last dyno with my old T3. Same psi but I now have this much much bigger T3/T4, but I havent gottin it retuned yet, im waiting on bigger injectors still.... I shotting for at least the 400 area. Once I get there im done with it lol.

That is what you say now, once you hit that you will have a new goal to get higher, I know I am always wanting more / bigger :p
