Photo journal of my Miracles in glass starphire 280 (pics inside)

i started off with a 2.5gal when i was 6 in that tank i had a black moor, a red comet, 5 white clouds and a weatherloach with lots of plastic plants eventually that collection out grew it so they went into a 20gal

Look! At least fill it up with tap water and go catch some large mouth or brim or something. We NEEEEED to see some fish in that thing!!!!! :D  :D

I would love to actualy go fishing :D Maybe some red fish or speckled trout

Then when you take it down to move, co0k up and eat your temporary pets that are now extremely fat from huge feedings. Hey, thats something you could do: catch a small fish, feed it like crazy and let it grow to be big and then take a picture of it saying you caught it....it wouldnt be lying. :)

Hey NOLA, I've been watching this thread for a while now and it seems to me that you have eclipsed some kind of record for length of postings on a fish site without actually having put water in the tank. THAT is just plain ole impressive. I'm glad you came through the storm ok, sorry to hear your getting your car back, equally sorry to hear about the 110 and next time you go to the market I'm gonna fill that sucker. The longer a boat stays at the dock, the harder it is to leave the dock.

Yeah trust me, that is NOT how I wanted things to turn out! Matter of fact I am in the process of setting another personal record....I still don't have that other flipen car back. Yes the bodyshop still has it...long story I don't feel like going into. This last year has actually made me get some gray hairs

Tank is stilllll dry, Its about to be that time a year again (like next week I think) so there is no reason to set it up now. I am definitely moving this time next year. Once I move and get settled I will set it up....water will get in that thing even if its for some nasty Oscars lol

Maybe you should put some water in the tank just to protect the silicone seals from drying out.

Yes, it can. That is why we don't leave tanks sitting for a long time empty. Contact the tank builder and ask for their input, to confirm or deny my statement. If I'm wrong, please let me know as I'd rather pass on accurate information to others.

Hey NOLA, I'm originally from south fl. and I know the drill with this time of year coming. Heck I went through Andrew and have never imagined any instance where I would see the same stuff I saw then. Dumpsters in the trees and all that jazz. I would think the biggest enemy of a dry tank is a drastic change in temp. I would think a couple of "test fills" for some photos my be enough to keep this thread going for another year or so. You know, to get the kinks out. Just throw the hose in that puppy. Don't forget you have drawn us all in like a fresh season of Idol. You could probably get Cingular on board for some sponsorship dollars. just kidding with you.

Whats up yall....long time no see. Tank is still high and dry but I am about to set it up...........

freshwater

Ok dont hate.....its not going to be for good. I am still moving around june so no reef untill after that. I have a 4 month old girl now and she loves to watch the dogs. SO I am going to set up the tank with a few extra large south american cichlids. I got a big tank might as well put big fish for her to look at. ....and im sick of looking at it empty.

Just a little friendly update!

OMG 47 pages ,2 years later and no water yet. Glad i didnt read the WHOLE thread.

Yep...its sad I know...NOT what I wanted to do thats for sure!!!

I actualy had to DUST the tank!!

There are some interesting things in the thread...even me getting band for being to excited aboutthe tank and droping a F bomb LOL

NOLACLS, Great to see you posting again!

I think we can let the freshwater slide considering your circumstances. :)

But you have to post some pics of the tank with H20 in it! :D Freshwater or not.

I don't have time to go back through all 40 something pages. Didn't you end up buying a Deltec skimmer? If so, which model did you get? Where did you get it, etc? I'm looking to upgrade from my MR1 when I finally get my new tank set up.

LoL,, I took the tour of your life.. It was kinda like the Diary of NOLACLS, "you think you know but you have no idea" cliped together with an episode of Cribs!

Fishing trips.. Tour of your frigerater,Renevating the office, the disaster of hurricane katrina, the broken 240 glass tank, the meltdown of your 110gal and last but not least the car accident. im sure theres all kinds of stuff im missing but its just a small recap of what i read so far.

That is 1 heck of a setup though i just wish i could see it in action! beautiful tank i love it.

BTY congrats on the new addition to the family! I got 2 girls, so i know how time consuming it can be.

I will definetly have some pics of it....wont be how I want with a reef but at least I can set it up. It will be a reef one day or I will get another tank to make a reef if I cant get rid of the fresh. I am keeping all the stuff I have so far! Now I just need a act of congress to lift the tank a few inches to slide some foam under it. Its just been on the plywood and I can see gaps all around.

I got the deltec ap702 and a calc reactor cant remember if its a 501 or 601...probably a 601. Couldnt tell you how it works because that has been dry too like everything else. Shure does look good tho LOL I got it direct from deltec I think....guy from the here I think.

Got some wood in the tank now lol. Still no water...need to put that foam under it. I guess I need to...it has a plastic lip but not thick...only about 1/16". I cna see gaps (light) between the tank bottom and the plywood.
