Still playing around with settings, the white balance is really tricky. Enjoy

I can't believe how much of a diff the "Macro Slider" made. The details are much better. All of these photo's are untouched, cropped only. Natural color......Prior pics of this zoa the colors were way off, I even think I mentioned that the colors were faded....The Tangerine Zoa's seriously look like this, they scream "look at me"....LOL

This is tiny frag of my Superman, intense blue color with red polyps, none of this faded crap that people try and pawn off as a superman

I kicked the setting to f9, what an incredible difference it made on capturing the true colors on all these zoa's

All of the above posted pics were taken before I really started to understand how to use my camera. At the time I thought they were incredible images, now I see how some of the details were lacking, depth of field, colors etc were just OK....

Hi:

There are some very nice shots and corals. I love the colors and the way pics improved with the 105 macro.

I just purchased on ebay a Nikon D40x with the regular 18-55 lens. I used to have a Canon Power Shot A630 which was nice but want to get in the DSLR camera world with different lens alternatives.

I imagine that my Nikon with the regular lens should be better than the Canon A630 and that is an improvement. When I look at prices for the 105 macro I see that they are very expensive. Is there an alternative in other brand of lens like Sigma, etc? What about quality of the lens?

In my post there are some photos with my Canon Point & Shot A630.

For some reason I like this composition, not the best quality, but I like it ...

Macro Slider? Are you using a Bellows with your 105? I've got one on my Santa list that I'm looking forward to getting (crosses fingers).

You've come a long way with your photog skills from your first photos. Great job putting in the effort it takes to get good at it.

Good luck with the new tank.

Phyl,

thank you.....At first I was under the impression that I could just buy a nice camera and start clicking.....farthest thing from the truth you can imagine....

I'm still working out some lighting/shadow issues along with white balance. Just got PS2 and now I have another "thing" to learn.....

The exposure compensation has been the greatest help, along with understanding the fstop...

I thought the same thing. I am still trying to figure out the exposure thing. Any tips? I also am using a Nikon D40x. Thanks
