Phyto/Rotifers First Attempt.

maybe i can't see them because my rotifer water is so green. hopefully i will be able to see them when it clears up.

what do you have your rotifer culture in fishkid, if they are in a 1 or 2 liter bottle and that green i think i would split it up and add new salt water to both were it ant so green

i did it because thats what the directions said to do. if i had more rotifer cultures i wouldn't be able to feed them because i wouldn't have enough phyto.

With a magnifying glass, the rots will just look like specks of dust in the water. So, if you've got dusty looking water, you've got rots ;)

I have a batch of neon goby eggs that just laid tonight. What kind of surplus of rots/phyto do I need for me to have a chance at this. Please, all measurements in 2L bottles :)

I hav 2-2L phyto trying to get really green. 1-2L phyto that I feed the rots with. And 2-2L of rots that looks like I can split.

Tomorrow I plan to add a 2L of rots into a 10g and keep the flow to a drip with an air bubbler.

Are there any predators of rots that exist in my system I should be aware of? Should I prefilter the water? Pods? I dont know.

I bought this. Are you supposed to be able to see the rotifers with the naked eye. I see specks on something but im not sure they are rotifers.

I think it is a bit better to have a PC light on the rot tank, I found that the phyto multiplies within the rot tank. I found i can go 1-2 days longer with it. Is it better to have a lot of large volumes (5 US Gallons) of phyto or a lot of small 2 litre bottles? Let me know what you guys think.

Dammit. I think I got a little splash of tank water in the phyto. Its starting to yellow. Does this mean a crash or a new zooplankton culture?

Only one way to find out ;)

Break out the magnifying glass and see what's swimming around, or not.

Am I better off with a microscope? Seems like it would be beneficial because this part of the hobby is holding my interest for more than a month now.

Is there a better common container to use rather that a blue 5 gallon water jug? I feel that this greatly reduces light penetration.
