Here is a pic of my gigantea. I have had it and the two clownfish for about 6 years now. The fish at the bottom right is tending a new clutch, though you can't see it well. I love these guys.

whoa that is a beauty can you get a close up looks like you have it in the right amout of flow people dont understand how much they need

very very nice :)

what and how often do you feed it?
what is your lighting?
what provides your water motion?

6 years is quite an accomplishment. Congrats.

Reefkeeper: Ummm, whoa! That is huge! Just how big is that critter? Nice looking pair of clowns you have there too. Have you managed any of their off spring?

Gary: Is that the same thing in your avatar? If so is it yours?

Very nice. :)

I have one very similar to yours now for almost 3 years. It's currently trying to outgrow a 24x24 cube tank. It looks like a bowl of vermicelli noodles since the tentacles are so long. :)

I don't feed it very often, maybe once a month with fresh frozen (well rinsed) shrimp I get at the supermarket. The flow comes from a tunze stream (there are 4 of them) up on the overflow. There is also flow from the return line. You can get a better idea of placement if you go to the large tank forum and look at the whole tank pics I have posted there. I posted updated pics today.
The lighting is from maristar fixtures with 250watt 10k xm metal halides supplemented with 54 watt t5 actininc. This is a new setup though, only nine months old. The anemone was under 250watt awasaki and VHO actincs in my old 180.

Glad you posted here. I knew everyone would love seeing it. One of these days I will have to get over and see it in person :)

I really think the requirement for these guys is lots of water flow.
Nice anemone. Not a bad job on the Pink Skunk also. These guys are difficult to get to spawn.
Congratulation

I would love to have you over Cindy. Maybe when someone in the BRC organizes a tank tour or if you are ever in the area .Not many from the BRC have seen it in person.

Very very nice indeed! Too bad I can't accomodate them to that scale LOL! You should be proud of it, it is an amazing accomplishment!

Nice H. Gigantea, my friend just bought one of those listed as a carpet anemone. I asked if it was a Gigantea and of course they said no cause the delivery order said it was a carpet so it has to be. Anyways he put it into his 125 with a single return for flow and 4x65 watt pcs for light. Its a new tank and hes new to salt and as soon as it expelled waste he freaked out and asked me to take care of it (cause I told him I would if there was any problems). Its now in my 150 with 2-400watt MHs a dual return with a S.Q.U.I .D. and a few power heads which I think is more the environment it would like I may buy it off him cause it would do better in my tank and the clowns love it so much, they've been fighting over it. I have three pairs all with their own host anemone but the all left them for this new addition. I think the pinks are winning, the other two slept in their own anemones last night. I just cant take it away from them and put them through all that for nothing, plus it looks awesome.
So do you think my tank is a better environment for it and do you have and tips or suggestions on keeping this happy?

Bye the way awesome pic, it helped prove to me what kind it was. Well heres hopfully a pic I havent done this in awhile so I'm not sure if I;m doing it right or not so here goes--

Yup, thats a gigantea. You can make certain by looking underneath. If you see what looks like colored dots (can't remember the name for them but it starts with a V) then there is no doubt. I would try to buy him from your friend. Moving it around back and forth will put it at risk for damage and infection. It likes lots of flow and light. You can feed it too. I give mine well rinsed jumbo shrimp about once a month. It can eat more often, but thats up to you. Remember it will get BIG. Your clowns will love you for this.
