Picasso Clownfish Photos - Please Post Yours

what's the difference between the grading? how long does it take them to develop the black markings? I want a Picasso pair so bad, they are such beautiful fish.

sugartooth...those are some of the nicest looking picassos i've seen...i love the white markings...especially the bottom fish (top picture)...love the middle stripe on that one...very unique...where did you get your's from?

Just thought I'd post a couple of pics I took today. The first pic you can clearly see the cross pattern and the sideburns. I thought the fish in the background was the female because it was larger than the other one, but not by much. Now I'm not sure, they are now about the same size. They still hang out together though, side by side.

I think the black is filling in nicely!

Here you can see one of the Picassos peeking out of their new host..... a large colony yellow of polyps.

Very nice looking picassos! :) I think these fish look even better when their black starts to fill in. One of mine is getting black on her but the other hasn't really started yet :(

Chelsey, I totally agree with you. Whereas some people want as much white as possible, I think the black shows off their patterns much more.

Are most of these clowns ORA picassos. I have a pair and their colors are nowhere near that. They have the nice unique stripes but no black and they look more orange than red. Is this normal, how long before they start developing the black coloration (if they do)?

Thanks,
Chris

Yes, I think most are ORA picassos. I've had my clowns for a little over a year now and the female is just now working on developing a decent amount of black. The male, on the other hand, has not even started getting any black :(

Chris, for referrence, my picassos were purchased from my LFS last August. I don't know how old they were when they got them from ORA. But they were juveniles and looked like a lot of the ones I've seen, mostly a light orange color with little or no black showing.
Here are a couple of pics showing the color progression:

Pic taken right after I got them Aug. '07

Hope this helps!

Far as I can tell ORA picasso's have the 2 and 3 bar connected

black is kicking in. i noticed feeding my picasso's spirulina brine that the black came in faster jmo!! nice looking fish btw

I believe they do.

I was suprised when looking at the original picture I posted a few weeks back how much they have changed - getting more black outline and more deeper orange color too.

Love seeing everyone's picassos... keep them coming!

i always wondered why people would pay so much for picassos. i have NEVER seen an adult picasso, only the really young ones. silly me..totally forgot that the patterns dont fill in till later. man, now looking at these...id rather have picassos than rod's onyx. BEAUTIFULL!!

picassos are way nicer than rod's onyx...but if you don't want to pay the $$$ for one...rod's onyx isn't a bad choice of clowns either...

if you have 4 in a tank...how long before they starting pairing? i might need to do that for about 2 months until i can split them up...

update on my male picasso. He's quickly developing the black coloration. The orange coloration is also brighter and a deeper orange.

i disagree. the body shape, hardiness, and coloration of the Rods onyx is second to none,

picassos look ok but have a much higher % of bent gills, smashed faces and spotty coloration.
