Picassos and color change pics w/ BTAs

I can't say for sure, but I'll tell ya those are stunning clowns just as is, look like SW koi!
Everyone has their pref, and I bet not everyone wants the same color/outcome, just posting my exp.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I'm just very surprised that this seems to be true, and trip on how an anemone, or absence of one can affect their appearance this dramatically.
Nature is a trip!

Thanks for the compliments. Your clowns are very very nice as well. That male is something else. Is he a picasso or snowcasso? Kinda looks like half of both. Either way I like it.

Doni said the male would most likely be a snowcasso, not sure exactly what determines that, but I'm pretty sure that's what he is.
I'm a bit on the fence when it comes to grading these guys, since I see some B's I like more than some A's, and feel like it knocks some folks clowns to judge them that way, but I guess it's a necessary evil to help peeps order or describe what they want.

Grades are their for pricing as well. Look at Donis site she explains what a snowcasso is, basically a picasso with much more white and rare, hence the $200 price tag.

Very nice clowns though I will be sure to avoid BTA

I thought that male was a snowcasso. Very lucky for you. That is my dream pair, and nice picasso and a nice snowcasso.

I personally don't know how to grade the clowns. I just know what mine are because the were purchased from ORA.

Thanks people, and in no way am I bagging on BTAs, there are some amazing colors morphs of these guys.
I'm just tripped out on how they affected the color of my clowns.
Donis site is great, and pretty informative, I just didn't focus alot on the snow specs.
I guess I should care more, just never been a big label guy.
But I have to shamelessly admit that when asked, I can't seem to say A's w/out a slight smile!LOL

Man, I wish I was close enough to see and hand pick from there.
Though, I gotta say, as fussy and picky as I am, I don't think I coulda or woulda picked different from what I have.
I really do like having one heavy in white snow, and one grade A combo.
I've had alot of clowns, and several spawning that I let eggs go as food, but I will attempt to breed these guys.

davocean & tcwoodrn, both of yours look awesome. If my pair turns out to be half as beautiful as yours I would be really happy. I don't think mine are grade A, I picked them up from LFS.

When you said BTA is that the same as Rose Anemone? I'm now confused if mine is rose or bta? sorry for such as rookie question.

btw, they finally decided to check the anemone out.

Nice, and much better pic!
A rose is a BTA(RBTA)
No such thing as silly question, ask all.
And I'm a fan of all clowns regardless of grades, I pay little attention to that, and often say I see B's I like better than many A's
I'm just all about that free looking random pattern.

I was told by LFS keeper that my pair will change it's stripes as they grow older. Is this true? After seeing all of your picasso/snocasso, I think mine are just the regular "casso". They don't have the same pattern like most picasso has, they're more like regular perc.

They look like maybe C grade picassos, mainly random at that tail area.
They will usually darken up, but the actual stripes will stay pretty much as they are.
White spots on mine turned black.

Wow, cool thread. Great job documenting the changes.

As for the color changes: Do you think this could somehow be related to the stinging cells or chemicals they release? Perhaps it is something in the BTA that the other anemones dont have that induces it.

I think we could only guess at this point.
I did hear one other person say this happened to his while hosted by an LTA, though BTA sounds much more common.
Mine were getting darker and fine in LTAs.
Since I removed the BTAs, I was set on a Malu, which took a while to find(just last week) so they have been w/out a nem since, and reside in a monti cap.
Hopefully they take to the Malu soon, but it's much smaller than the monti, and I wonder if they have confused the monti for a carpet.

Thanks, I like that too, and he's just getting a hint of black at the top of it, hope that fills in more over time.
I've had these guys exactly a year now, and they just started acting like they are cleaning the area and hopefully start spawning soon.
Yes, I will breed these when they do.
