Kogo

In Memoriam
it seems like many of us have been bitten by a pico bug, and there are several new 2.5g projects going.

how about a central thread to post 2.5g pics.

sorry for the glare/reflection. it ain't as easy as it looks, taking a pic from your stomach-angle and butt-up-against the window.

dang good job tinyreef with your amounts and duration of light, keeping a sun-driven system clean of micoalgae in the small cracks and crevices is mighty hard to accomplish in a pico, impressive Sir. just a quick stop-in! And, btw, what is your soft coral alcyonarian in the lower right, I have the exact same one and a seeking a for-sure ID? I'd guess capnella?

thanks, brandon! your systems were actually the basis of the technical inspirations for this tank. i had it knocking around in my head since your femto but really never the excuse to do it until nr's recent pico contest.

the aggressive filtration (carbon, chaeto, Poly-Filter, 10% weekly wc's) and the snails have kept the water pretty clear. i was definitely worried that it may just crash into a greenwater pico in the beginning but three months (baby pico) so far so good.

yes, the softie in the lower right is a capnella. it was ill in another tank and it's since recovered here. (a salinity problem in the prior tank) this specific species is very prolific compared to some other capnella-types i've had.

here's a side view and better look at the clear canopy (not completely air-tight like brandon's but more because i'm not a very good acrylic fabricator than on purpose though).

i did the trim myself in a few hours. staining and finishing will take several days.
i originaly planned for the front pannel to be a magnitized and removable pannel, but i found that i need a better saw to do detail work. perhaps the next one will have a door.

oh, and no sump .... i would like to do a closed loop on the next one though.

you did the trim yourself? that's fine woodwork!

i know what you mean about the CL. freeing up real estate inside the display area is so crucial for the smaller tanks. brandon's the uber-specialist in that area. ;)

btw, suge, i love your tank too. i've seen it before, of course.

and mel's a direct competitor, grrrrr. :p but his tank's still admired.

Bumpity bump bump bump. Anyone else? I'm thinking about starting a 2.5. I'd like to know what everyone is using for lighting mainly. I'm looking at the Coralife 2X18W fixture. Any thoughts?

wwwweeeeellllll mine's not a 2.5 but it's a little smaller. close enough right!!! got the tank at wal-mart. 2 gallon hex (well i'm not exactly sure, didn't measure to see how much it actually held) but the tank's not up anymore. moved it all into my 5 and the hex became my girlfriends planted betta bowl. so here it is.

Well, I was hesitant to post these, since I completely ripped off Kogo's idea's. BUT, it was the ONLY way the wife would allow another tank. It seriously started a two day fight, until she saw it finished. I'll be using a 2X18W PC retro fit that should be here tomorrow.

Kogo, please post your approval before I start it's own thread and look like a copy cat. :p Thanks for the inspiration.
