pics of my new fish/sps reef :)

Beautiful SPS tank but the purple plate coral looks dead

Thanks! I took a picture for you, if you mean the one in the picture below you're not the first to ask. I've never seen any tentacles during the day, but during the night they are expanded. I have it more than three years and it does grow. I do have more Fungias in my tank, this is the only one with this behaviour and I do like this variation.

Just took a small video today. Unfortunately there are some scratches on the lens of my camera, so the video isn't as clear as it should be... Sorry for that.

Hope you enjoy it though :)

Thanks blackgate :) Can't wait to release the new fish out of the critterbox in the left upper corner. Just need to wait a few more days I guess...

Just took a new video, spot the newcomer ;-)

Your tank is absolutely stunning, Tanu!

Would you mind sharing with me how well behaved your orangspot filefish is with all of you SPS corals, acros especially, in the tank?

nice tank :)
Thanks Brian :)

Thank you :) It suddenly disappeared, I had it for about two years now. The answer on this question depends on your definition of 'well behaved' I guess. Even though it ate frozen and flake food very well, it never stopped picking at the sps, especially Acro's. I definitely will miss this fish but am not sure if I will try to get a new one. The tiny one I bought didn't make it past the first few days, it had already lost too much weight in the transit to the lfs where I bought it.

I did find something else though, a Chaetodon mitratus. A mitratus or tinkeri was already on my wishlist for many years and now it is in my tank since October 27th :)

I did just take some new pictures of the tank though, I hope you all enjoy :)

Beautiful Tank, I also have that Fungia, and it also behaves the same way, It puffs up pretty big at night. been with for 3yrs:)

Amazing tank :D ive been wanting to get some blue reef chromis. Fish list is wicked
Thanks Kevin. I really like them as well, it just took me some time to find small specimens. As I read that they don't really shoal, but form bigger aggregations which actually is just a group of pairs, I decided I should just keep two of them. I have them for about 6 months now, they are really peaceful and very beautiful. Just like the green reef Chromis, they need to be fed multiple portions through the day. So far, I can recommend them.

Thank you Daniel. Mine puffs up a bit at night, but I've never seen a single tentacle during the day. It is not a plastic coral, this is proven by the fact that it does grow slowly and that algae won't grow on it ;)

beautiful tank and that's a lot of awesome fish in that size tank!
John, thank you. I really enjoy watching it. There are so many awesome fish available, it's very hard to choose... ;)

Luckily system is able to handle the waste of the fish, I checked the water quality last week:
Salinity: 1.025
KH: 8
Ca: 430 mg/l
nitrates: 0
Phosphate lower than 0,03 mg/l

:smokin:

Together with a friend we went on a shopping tour in Germany. We did score some nice corals, I also got Fauna Marin Color Elements and FM Reef Vitality to try something new...

Merry christmas to all readers of this topic. I managed to escape from the christmas-duties for a while, so I can upload the pictures again. Strange enough, they are visible on my laptop, but not on the tablet?

Thanks Nick and Fishman!

Just before 2012 ended we went on a short shopping-trip to some German suppliers (www.whitecorals.de, www.extremecorals.de and www.korallenfarm.de). The first two offer a very nice selection of corals which were mainly imported. The last one offers, apart from some imported lps and fish, solely 'homegrown' corals. Feeling like a kid in the candy store!

I took a short video of the last store... :)
