Pictures of Bomber's barebottom SPS tank and related equipment

I have to thank Joey and Greg for the avatar. :)

Malcomb finally passed a couple of months ago Diablo. :(

sorry to ear this , that fish was nice , did you have any trouble whit him i mean with ur coral wen i was in the tank , im planing on getting an imperor angel in my sps reef tank i wanna ear from people who did it, any sugestion to give me ?

Bomber, your tank is an inspiration to me. I really like the "clean" look that you have. Also I like the simplistic look of your set up, it doesnt appear that you have gadgets strung evey where. Btw, is your Ro/Di feed directly to the tank?

What do you feed the fish and corals, and how often?

Coffee! Oh that's for me!

The tank is fed nothing but 'blender mush' every day and just what the fish will eat in about 10min.

Malcomb was a royal pain after he grew up. It was his tank. At about 3years old he acquired a taste for ricordea and cleaned the tank out in three days. You could not add any fish bigger than 1-2" to the tank, etc.

Vince, I don't trust those things. I rigged up a 5gal bucket with a float switch that the RO/DI feeds in to. I just dump a bucket in the sump every day.

Yeah, I know what ya mean about not hooking the Ro/Di unit to the sump. It kinda gave me the heebeejeebees also. I still add my limewater/Ro by the slow drip method. Bomber, please post more pics as your tank matures. When we set up our big tank I hope to somewhat model it after yours.:D

LOL well you gave it to me! I think it's great!! :D

Not really w2r, but then look where we live.

:) Thanks again!

Nope ri, it's the cheap stuff. The only time I can tell the difference is when the lights are not on.

Dumb question...but couldn't someone use either white acrylic sheeting or white polycarbonate instead of Starboard? I'm pretty sure both have a density of > 1.0 g/mL.

Thoughts?

Shane

Cellcast acrylic will absorb about 2% moisture according to Cyro. 2% isn't much. ;) You could "tack" the edges down with a bit of aquarium safe silicone. Silicone won't stick well to acrylic, but it might do well enough to keep it from warping.

How much water will Starboard absorb?
