Pistol shrimp doesn't understand the concept of hermit crabs :)

I recently bought a striped hermit crab with a shell about the size of a quarter, and my pistol has NO IDEA what to do about it. He's dealt with two bean-sized red leg hermits before, usually using them as materials for his tunnel and then freaking out when they move. This one, though, he can't figure out. It's too large for him to really move, but it keeps wandering past his tunnel. He'll sneak up, shoot it a couple of times, hide, and then get all confused why it's still wandering around. The hermit either doesn't notice or doesn't care... Shell must be too thick.

My pistol shrimp shot my yellow tang when it got too close.. the pistol was out in the open and the tang was right up in it's face and got shot. The tang got startled but nothing more. The goby he was paired with on the other hand.. flipped out of the tank.

Bit of a shrimpy fail there... Supposed to be the other way around- scare the foes and protect the goby.
My blue damsel used to try and chase the goby when it was little. Twice. Then the pistol shot it in the face and it is now terrified of the shrimp. Little Blue will see the goby alone, dive at it like a kamazike, see the pistol shrimp, and pull out of the dive just in time to avoid being shot... Goby doesn't care. It just kinda glances up.
My pistol is extremely bold now, as the damsel is afraid of it and nobody else lives in the tank. It just runs all over the place... If I got something else, there would be a lot of freaking out. Silly blind little shrimp.
