You have to have a piece of rock that has coralline on it (or a shell or something), or you'll never get any. Once your tank is cycled, put something that has coralline on it in there, you can even scrape some of the coralline off & let your powerheads carry it throughout the tank to spread it around. If parameters are good, it will start growing in small spots first on plastic, then on rock, then on glass.

Is there a difference in these asterina stars? The white ones seem to be peaceful... but the greenish/blackish ones like to munch on my zoas. I have started removing the dark ones when I find them.

Thanks - Matt

Here's another hitcher I ended up with. It's a ball anemone that popped out of one of my rocks after 10 months. It's about 5/8" when it is open. Most references say they are peaceful. Just thought you guys might like to see it.

Matt

Oh shoot! I should have nabbed it instead of taking it's picture!

I can't see the one in your video, but if it looks like it's flowing, it's a polyclad, and is bad. As for your hairy bivalve, it's an Ark Clam, probably Acar plicata (or a closely-related species). They live under slabs, and can attach, but if you move them to areas they don't like, they will detach and move. Yours is hunting a better hiding/feeding place. They're harmless.

Cheers,

Don
