I was told Syllid worm, was also told they will eat smaller scavengers when bigger. Can anyone ID for sure?

so are you sure it's a colonial tunicate and it's already doubled in size really growing fast and is it ok that it is on my coral not on my rocks? what is a colonial tunicate?

Oh Adrienne, i just looked up pics of colonial tunicates and they look like the coral pics i posted but that is just my coral with it's branches pulled in, i am talking about the black and orange thing at the base, any idea?i posted new pictures

A gorilla crab that was lunch for a neighborhood duck that came in on a mushroom rock I got at a LFS.
Good to hear. They are doing well along side the dozen featherdusters we have. Good good good [emoji106][emoji106]

Hello! New to Reefcentral!
I have 15kg of Indonesian Liverock and have had it in the tank for just over a month or so. Things so far have been going great however I noticed a few crabs that hitched there way into the tank. Originally I thought there was only one but this morning I found this guy battered at the bottom of my tank (doesn't look like a shedding).
This crab looks exactly the same as the other guy I've got in there, just much smaller.
This is the first fatality in the tank and I'd like to determine exactly what did it. Would it be the bigger crab in the tank?
I added a large Emerald crab in yesterday (I picked a large one just incase it had any altercations with the other crab I have in the tank). Perhaps he's related to this death?
With the Emerald crab I also introduced a Peacock Wrasse but I highly doubt he's involved.
The other known creatures and animals in the tank are:
I've looking into potentially what crab it could be but have struggled myself to make an absolute decision on what it could be. Seems likely it's some form of Gorrila crab but I guess it could be a Mithrax crab.

- 2 Scarlet Hermits (small)
- 1 Cleaner Shrimp (large)
- 1 Fire Shrimp (MASSIVE)
- 2 Ocellaris Clownfish (med)

Looks like a Blue Legged Hermit crab from the picture. Supposed to be reef safe although mine killed all my snails

I had one in my reef tank years ago and it never seemed to bother anybody.

Very possible.My tank keeps surprising me. One day you see this and the next this. It is not moving atm (did i miss it yesterday? Or did it move last night) another nudibranch?
You might want to look into dinoflagellates, the bubbly growth on the rocks looks suspicious, but I can't say anything for sure.
If however that is dinos, and the nudibranch is eating them, people would love you.
Found this today. I think it is mom because the other 2 are still tiny. Anyone any idea? Got lost on the internet. Ps do not look at the rest of the live rock we are still in startup fase

I'm not sure on the type of snail, however you may want to lookup Dino's as the bubbles in the algae you have resembles what I've seen. In my opinion the algae you're seeing is more than the typical beginner phase algae.
Could be a dove snail/colonista snail, though they are usually mottled and don't have their coloration on a set of dots. I'd let it grow. It could turn into something interesting that we don't normally get a chance to see. OTOH if you find it's hanging out on a coral or clam, you might move it to the fuge.
