Pix & ID: Critters that come in your rocks: the good and the bad.

that muscle (clam) is called a turkey wing by some it is very easy to keep alive and very common on florida live rock you just need to have enough disolved solids in the water for it to eat so i understand, i have about twenty of them in my main tank and they have been there for about two years

Algae good or bad?

Algae good or bad?

Hi,
I have this brownish algae on one side of my tank against the glass. It's hairy/waivy like. Just this one side. You can see it stretched from the glass & touching the rock. Ok to leave or should I wipe off?

Anything to worry about?

Anything to worry about?

I've had my live rock in my tank for almost two weeks and little creatures are starting to show up all over the place! If anyone would be so kind, is there anything to worry about with any of these..? Thank You!

mrjake, 1 & 3 are mini stars, great find. 2 looks to be a zoa or paly, also good.

Gemmy, did you get that lacy little sea slug for your bday? heheh
Some kind of nudibranch is my guess. Way too many for me to figure out what kind for you, though, sorry!

I usually wipe stuff like that off, or better yet suck it out with a baster.

Thanks! Through deductive reasoning I have concluded that the nudibranch eats soft corals. I think it may have come in on some macroalgae or a kenya tree. The Kenya tree is completely gone and I found another nudi on the plug three times the size of the one in the pic.

Kenya tree explains the frilly, the white was kinds surprising, though! They usually look like what they eat. So many of them are so pretty, it's a shame they're so destructive in our confined tanks.

zoas's and ?.

zoas's and ?.

Bought this frag from another hobbist....at home saw these littlenguys at top of the screen when the zoas closed up. Aiptasia? :eek1: if so they are about to get nuked

2nd is aiptasia, 1st are hydroids. I pulled a clump of them out of my tank with tweezers. There are 2 in there again that I missed.

I have a new system that has been up for a little under a week and have a few things sprouting up that I'm not sure about.... Anyone able to help I.d. Any of our little hitchhikers?
