Hello all!!! My name is Jack and due to working WAY too much i have been away from the forum and the hobby. Well after redefining some priorities in my life ... I am back! he he ... Anyways, i would like to join the club if possible? Are there still meetings each month? Please let me know if there is room for another fellow reefer in club!

BTW -- I have a 125 lps/softy reef

Thanks for your time!

Jack

Nope. I think they've closed membership, Jack:D. Someone'll get you hooked up with a membership app. Nice to see you back. How's everything been with the reef?

Hey Gary!!! The tank is awesome although nothing has been added for months, which is depressing. luckily the only signs of neglect has been a bit of a HA out break which is under control, and the loss of a few heads of torch coral due to brown jelly. I'm hooked again now!

Welcome back Jack, tho I am a pretty new to reef keeping, you and your experience are most welcome and there is a meeting Feb 10th at the Aquarium Restaurant. I'm sure one of the club officers will hook you up or you can go to the MTRC web page and join via PayPal.

looking forward to meeting you.

Norman

Yep -- the easiest way to join is to go to our website (www.mtrc.org) and pay via paypal.

The next meeting is at the Aquarium Restaurant this Sunday. It's family night and they are letting all club members and their immediate family go for free as well as free admission to the stingray reef where the kids can pet the stingrays. There is a thread on the Feb Meeting that has more details. If you want to go, let me know (in that thread) so I can tell them how many to expect. Right now we are close to 80 people :D

awesome Thanks! I will pay my dues via paypal... unfortunately i wont be able to make this meeting (future in-laws are in town) but i will DEFINATELY be there next month.

Cool I think the next months is at my house we will be playing with spray stuff for walls and I think I will have some lighting stuff to look at.

Thanks Chris! Did you get married yet? 3 months and counting for me, NOW i'm getting freaked out :eek1: Hope to see ya soon.

Yep. I got married in May. My advice to is to be ready for some changes. No more water change buckets left in front of the tank for days, no spilling water, etc.. It really isn't bad at all, but you have to always think about what she thinks first (LOL).

Sounds like someone didn't properly train their spouse:D. I know I get away with murder, though. Life would be difficult for me if Jenn didn't start giving in before we were married;). Don't let anyone scare you. A friend offered me a grand to skip town for my wedding:D. We went to a "club" in NOLA instead...

You haven't lived until you've seen your significant other stand by while you pick out some rocks and then watch her fork over $200 for them... without blinking and without margaritas involved

you think you got it now brian.....but wait til she gets another "rock" on her finger, and you'll fork over more than 2 grand....LOL.....and yours was just a couple hundred....hahahahha

Mine just said two days ago when I bought a $125 purple tang that, 'wow, that really isn't so expensive':). I did buy here a Tangaroa goby for her pistol (it was only $15:)).

Ha ha ... Jenn and i have lived together for the past two years so she is very aware of the "baggage" that a reefer brings to the relationship. We have had MANY talks ... one that specially jumps out at me was when i spilled 35 gallons of RO water all over the living room. Not a good day :) She is pretty supportive though and tries to get into it. I guess one of the biggest things that non-reefers cannot relate to is the amount of money that is spent in the hobby. She likes to keep me in check with that which is good. I would be broke and in debt :D It's like crack i tell ya! She thinks they should do an episode on A&E's Intervention about it.

Set her up a small tank that she can frag corals out of eventually. That worked like a champ here. Her tank is rocking, too.

She's got to feel ownership, even if you do all of the work and buy all of the corals:rolleyes:. She's gotten better, though.
