Snorvich, my tank is at 77-78. Is this too high for a blue spot? Could I keep a jawfish and goby?
Best temperature is about 72-75. Remember, they are collected in the sea of cortez. I think the jawfish and goby are not likely to get along.

The engineers will be a problem because of their size, or because they will make tunnels and disturb the sandbed?
they get large, make tunnels, cause rock slides, and cover with sand.
If I added the pair of clowns, Kole, and wrasse, would I be at capacity, or room for some chromis or anthias still? Does the Midas get along with all the fish listed, as I may remove the ywg for the Midas, or the hawk.
I am not clear as to what you want to do. I always need tank size and fish list as I cannot begin to remember from post to post where we are and due to page changes, I cannot easily figure out who has what.
Also, is there any general preference between the two wrasses, or are they both pretty similar in demeanor?
Hello I am in the process of setting up a 75g reef tank with live rock and 20g sump. My current wish list is something like this.
"¢ Peppermint shrimp
"¢ Cleaner shrimp
"¢ Purple firefish introduce early
"¢ Yellow watchman goby or orange stripe prawn goby either of these
"¢ Pair of Ocellaris clownfish
"¢ Pair of mccoskers or carpenters wrasse
"¢ Kole Tang
"¢ Orange Lined Cardinalfish
all should be fine
Could I also add either of these fish?
"¢ a bicolor or midas blenny? bicolor is fine
"¢ Possum wrasse or pygmy wrasse possum wrasse is terrific
thanks in advance for your advice.
I'm going to finally get a tank after wanting one for about 8 years. Getting an Innovative Marine 16g. My plan is to get a few fish, a few inverts and a few corals. I have no idea on if this is possible.
I'm trying to get everything to be peaceful and smaller sized. I do hope to get a large tank in 2-3 years if anything gets kind of large for this tank I can transfer it to that tank.
Here's my current plan to put in it:
Vietnam Crocea Clam
Ocellaris Clownfish
Banded Porcelain Crab
Debelius' Reef Lobster not reef safe, can take fish; gets large relative to tank size
Fox Coral Indonesia
Aussie Blastomussa Coral
Banded Coral Shrimp not reef safe, can take fish; gets large relative to tank size
Bumble Bee Shrimp
Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse
I will be getting the tank with 2 spinstreams in it for good water circulation. I'm not positive how good of a filter the tank comes with but I can upgrade that if needed. I wasn't planning on a sump or anything being only 16g.
If anyone has any advice for me I'd sure appreciate it. I only have 2 fish so far to have in it with numerous other inverts to talk around. I wouldn't mind another fish if anyone knows of any that is peaceful and will work well in this tank. Also, another coral or two would be cool. I plan to be adding this stuff between now and Spring, honestly, I won't get it all at once and just throw it in.
Thanks for the info snorvich. Sounds odd that two guys with Reef and Coral in their name wouldn't be reef safe! Do you think I'll need any more filtration than what comes with the Innovative Marine 16g? It has filtration and a refugium I think I'll be ok. Also, awesome sea dragon avatar!
55g mixed soft/lps
Current stock
Blue devil damsel(docile for the almost three months i have had him, only remotely perks up if any fish get in his direct territory)
yellow watchman goby
firefish goby
royal gramma
perc clown
can i add
yellow coris wrasse
copper banded butterfly
curious about bio load capacity. not sure how many more fish i can add
the copper banded butterfly will most likely be added around xmas and the yellow wrasse in the next month
Well i posted a bit back but made some changes to my list. On my 75 gal. reef I am running a filter sock, a pro clear 150 gal skimmer, then my fuge all in a 20 gal sump. Right now I have 4 blue/green reef chromis which will likely become one or two after they winnow down
, a true perc clown some pepp shrimp, a cleaner shrimp, sea cucumber, and hermit crabs. I want to get another clown (I had one other one but it died after its eye puffed up the day after i bought it), kole yellow eye tang, a flame angel, churub angel, 2 fire fish, a yellow longnose butterfly, royal gamma and 2 kauderns cardinals.
That is a lot of fish for that sized tank. A tang and two dwarf angels will put a lot of strain on natural food (algae). The dwarf angels are not likely to be coral safe and in any case should be quarantined and introduced together. A long nosed butterfly is probably reef safe, or almost so. The firefish and kauderns cardinals should be M + F pairs for them to coexist.
The main things im conserned about is with the butterfly eating coral, two angels together ive heard yes and no so??? and fish the royal gamma may pick on. I want a red mandarin possibly in the future but i dont know if i have enough pods in my tank to keep it.
If I feed the tang and Angels nori seaweed would that overcome that problem? And the cardinals and firefish how would you know you are getting a males or females. I forgot to mention earlier I'm ordering online from probably blue zoo aquatics. If you fed the angels enough would they still pick at corals? I know the flame angel is not quite as Likly to do so appossed to other dwarf angels but I'm not sure on they cherub.
My Tank specifications are within my signature.
I have some longer hair algae growing only on a couple small rocks, it seems to be contained. My Algae Blenny focuses more on the shorter hair algae that grows around the live rock.
I'm wondering, what would be the best clean up crew possible to control the shorter hair algae so that the Blenny will than be forced to focus on the longer stuff?
Once I get my sump set up and my cleaning crew properly established, I will be looking to add Nems/Corals and esthetically pleasing fish.
Any good suggestions for my fish and cleanup crew?
I posted to this thread because of my question for my compatibilities of fish with my fish that are presently in my aquarium.
You mentioned an algae blenny but no other fish. As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations but am always happy to answer compatibility questions with your environment provided or other fish.
The Invert question was aimed to give you an idea on the status of my aquarium at the moment and I had to sneak the CUC question just in case someone could chime on it.
