Is 5gal saltwater tank even do-able?

Is 5gal saltwater tank even do-able?

I'm thinking of starting a 5gal saltwater tank in my office, I just wanna know if it's do-able? If it is how should I set it up? If not what a good size tank to start of with for beginners?

4 months in with 110 tall (48x18x 31 tall). AI Sol LED lighting Stock at present:

1 Banghai cardinal
Pair sunset Anthias
1 Lawnmower Blenny
1 fire/blood shrimp
2 peppermint shrimp
2 scarlet cleaner shrimp
Various crew w hermits
Several corals

Want to add a single "Feature" fish but want to keep inverts and coral fairly safe.
First thought was Kole Tang
Second thought, need help!!!!
Thanks

I have a 7 month old 40 gallon tank. Has live rock, live sand, and a few mushrooms. I was looking at a fuzzy dwarf lionfish and was wondering if my tank is too small, and if it is reef safe because I am planning on getting more coral

Building a 90g Tank (36''x24''x25''); live rock, skimmer and sump, 2 MP40s and a screened top

Here's what I have in mind:

2x Juvenile Ocellaris Clowns
1x yellow fin fairy wrasse
1x blue/green chromis
1x purple firefish (plan to add first, then the clowns)
Various snails
Cleaner shrimp

I'd love any feedback - thanks in advance!

I just started a 5gal saltwater tank. The tank is setup in my office. I'm new to saltwater tanks. I need suggestions on what's my next step? Is a 5gal tank even do-able for saltwater? If not what a good size tank to start with?

This thread is only about marine fish compatibility. As such start a separate discussion thread in New to the Hobby. Good luck!

Over stock FOWLR??????

Currently stocked with 2 clowns, 2 fire fish, 1 green clown goby, 1 shark nose goby, 1 chromis and 1 cardinal. 2 turbo snails 2 full size electric blue hermits and 6 dwarf Scarletts and 1 cleaner shrimp. Is this too much? No corals yet!!! Tanks been up for almost 5 months

The two firefish, unless a bonded pair, will become one in the long run. Depending on the species of clownfish, you may be fine, but once sexually mature, some species may be exceptionally aggressive in this sized tank. Hermits will kill the snails for their shells.

Not exactly new to hobby but been out of it for 15 years. Reading, researching for months and now awaiting final few supplies but about to set up 65 gal. FOWLR, 50lbs Real Reef rock (to be purchased shortly), AquaMaxx HOB skimmer, AC 70 filter for extra bio and mechanical filtration, Jaebo WP25, no sump.

Setting up QT in a day or so to start that cycle with a shrimp while I continue working on the DT. Have put together basic, pretty much beginner fish list for your approval. Would like to know which fish should be first and if the rest should work ok. Other than adding the angel last, is there any specific order for the rest?

1x Midas Blenny
1x Oscellaris Clown
1x Royal Gramma
1x Cherub or Flameback Angel (looking for a bright blue fish). Add last correct?
3x Black Axil Chromis
maybe 2x Kaudern Cardinals (tank raised)? or is that too much?

I know the angel will be more aggressive than the rest but I really want something bright blue and I am trying to avoid damsels. If you can recommend something else to fit that bill, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks so much!

1x Midas Blenny these nip water column fish; look for a different blenny

must be tank raised; for two, must be a male plus female

I have a 80 gallon reeftank. I currently have a
- 1 Midas Blenny
- 1 blue green chromis
- 2 cleaner shrimp
- 1 fire shrimp
- turbo,nassarisus,conch

and my list for future fish-

- 1 fire goby (had before)
- 1 royal gramma (had before)
- 1 flasher wrasse
- 2 greenbanded gobies
- 1 bangaii cardinalfish
- 2 clownfish

could I possibly add more without overbioload, or is it good as it is?

I am planning to populate a 29G tank with live rock and live sand. I'll probably will have an Emperor 400 filter running and whatever light I need to grow some coral and an Ocellaris Clownfish. What other livestock additions should I consider?

Thank you for your reply. Taking another stab at my list for the 65 gallon FOWLR:

3x Blue Reef Chromis
1x Oscellaris Clown (tank raised) or would a pair be better?
1x Royal Gramma
1x One Spot Foxface OR Lemon Peel Angel (Want a yellow show piece) Added last
1x Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse

As far as first fish, would the chromis go before the clowns? I also like the Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse. If a wrasse was included, would THAT be the first fish? Followed by Chromis or Clowns? (Covered top of course). Appreciate your patience and feedback. Thanks!

- 1 flasher wrasse jumper, needs 1/4 inch mesh
- 2 greenbanded gobies
- 1 bangaii cardinalfish should be tank raised
- 2 clownfish avoid the aggressive species such as GSM

could I possibly add more without overbioload, or is it good as it is?

except as noted, you should be fine

As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide suggestions. However I will be happy to evaluate any stocking list coupled with the environment provided.

Thank you for your reply. Taking another stab at my list for the 65 gallon FOWLR:

3x Blue Reef Chromis will likely become one over time
1x Oscellaris Clown (tank raised) or would a pair be better? a juvenile will eventually morph into a female
1x Royal Gramma
1x One Spot Foxface OR Lemon Peel Angel (Want a yellow show piece) Added last a foxface needs a larger tank; either fish is marginal at best in this sized tank
1x Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse jumper which requires 1/4 inch mesh top

there is not a huge difference in aggressiveness in this fish list, flasher wrasse should be first.

Please give me some feedback, it would be much appreciated,
currently cycling my 65 gallon hex. going the FOWLR approach until I can afford to upgrade lights/skimmer/filtration.

I want to get a CUC but I was told some inverts may be hazardous to my reef once I dive into coral keeping.

-What CUC are reef safe?
