Hello,

I have a 55 Gallon Tank that is almost done cycling and I would like make into a Reef.
I have 50 lbs of live rock and 40 lbs of live sand.
1 Penguin 400 HOB and 1 C360 canister filter and will add a skimmer once the tank is done cycling.

I would like to add:

2 Ocellaris Clownfish
1 Yellow Watchman Goby
1 Neon Blue Goby short lived
1 Purple Firefish introduce first
1 Princess Anthias needs a larger tank
1 Bicolor Dottyback or 1 Royal Gramma dottyback is very aggressive, royal gramma is fine
1 Flame Angel

Awesome. Thank you for the advice.
And about the test kit, I will be buying this week. Instead of those lights, what can you recommend that would be around the price range ? Or close to it

Got it, my bad

No, not bad at all. Feel free to check back with a possible stocking list for analysis and commentary. Unfortunately some of the suggestions above will not work out all that well. However testing your own water is an important skill to develop.

The tank

The tank

I got me a 50 gallon that's a foot wide three feet tall and I'm not to sure about the length. Right now it has got nothing but water. I'm testing out the waters in the garage hoping there isn't much fluctuation in the temps if there is ill move the tank inside I guess. I get ro water for free because I work for Starbucks but I know it needs to be deionized. Is there a DIY way to deionize or do I just need to buy my water from my LFS. Anyways back on track I really have no idea what type of fish or corals I could get with a 50. I wanna stuff as much in this tank as I can lol

For questions about equipment, etc. start your own thread in New to the Hobby. This thread is only about marine fish compatibility". Since you plan to " stuff as much in this tank as I can lol" I would start reading the Fish Diseases treatment forum. That is not really a viable long term strategy in this hobby.

65 (2x4x1) gallon BB tank with

1 cleaner wrasse
2 clown fish
1 clown goby
1 midas blenny

I was curious about the curious worm fish (Gunnelichthys curiosus), checking this stud out for a while and was wondering everything about this fish

Thank you in advance.

65 (2x4x1) gallon BB tank with

1 cleaner wrasse since it will not clean any species of clownfish, it may drive your other fish to distraction
2 clown fish what species; some are super aggressive
1 clown goby
1 midas blenny may nip at water column fish, especially in small tanks

A tank of at least 30 gallons or larger with a sandy bottom is required, as this fish tends to bury itself in soft substrate both at night and when startled. Its tankmates must be peaceful, as it is easy prey for more aggressive fish. In your tank, depending on clownfish species, this may not work out.

The meaty diet of the Curious Wormfish should include fresh or frozen seafood and enhanced brine and mysis shrimp.

Thank you in advance.

The clowns are a pair of black ocellaris, the midas does nip at the cleaner every now and then in the QT, but im hoping it wont be an issue in the 65. It wasnt in the 30 long they were in before. Would a tupperware full of sand be a suitable solution for the wormfish? My yellow coris definitely used it, although i realize they are completely different.

Anthias killed

Anthias killed

I have a 200 gallons reef tank. 200 pounds or more live rocks. Refugium, protein skimmer,uv sterilizer, algae scrubber.
I up-grated from 55g to 200 9 months ago. I transfer everything to new tank except sand. I avoided a new cycle.
Fishes transferred to new tank:
Maroon clown
Purple Tang
2 Fox Face
Naso Tank
Blue Chronis
And Danzel I bought first following instructions from LPS and can't catch for donation.
I feed them from 8-10 cubes of frozen food and 1/2 nori sheet.
Three months after transfer I added 2 Anthias(male and female). I never witness any aggressive behavior toward any one of them. Four weeks ago I noticed the Anthias hiding under rocks, not coming out not even to eat. One week later I found the male agonizing with missing fins and bites all over body, die same day. One week later female found dead same descriptions.
Since I never witness who did with your fellows experiences who may be the killer because one of my favorite fishes is Anthias and I can't live without them.:deadhorse1:

Cycling a tank with live fish is bad practice and your LFS should have known that. This thread is only about Marine Fish Compatibility. While there are some behavioral issues with your fish, given the size tank, I will not point them out since they already exist.

Sounds as if you have predatory action, perhaps from inverts such as crabs, possibly from fish such as the maroon clown. Alternatively you may have introduced a parasite into the tank if you did not properly quarantine. In any case that issue is beyond the scope of this thread.

Your tank is marginally ok for a group of anthias, but probably not ok for two groups of them. Remember that anthias do best with multiple feedings per day.

I have two Ocellaris Clownfish that were not added at the same time but do get along great! Would I have any issues adding two Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish at the same time. I have a 36 gal with live rock and no corals. Would the 4 of them get along ok?

No. You can have only one pair of clownfish in anything less than a very large tank. The original pair of clownfish may or may not sexually differentiate properly; however if both try to become female, you will only have one.
