I have a 72x24x21 155 gallon tank with a few wrasse and a juvie pair of A. ocellaris. I also have a Firefish and a Royal Gramma which were the first two fish introduced. Would a Blue Assesor be a problem? Most concerned about the Firefish and Gramma.

Either a blue or gold assessor would work in a six foot tank assuming aquascaping that allows for segregation of territories with the Gramma loretto

Feel free to pick apart the setup and inhabitants as I am fairly new and could use all the criticism I can get to make sure I do things the right way down the road. One thing I do know is the lighting does need to be upgraded before my coral come along but other than that, I just have a basic knowledge.

You already know that the chromis will winnow down to one and that the purple dottyback will be a problem in the long run. Hermits and snails together is not a good choice since hermits will kill snails for their shells. Since this thread is ONLY about marine fish compatibility, I have no comments about equipment or coral.

So, I'm looking to plan for my next occupants down the line.

I have a 29G Tank with 30 lbs. live rock and 20 lbs. live sand.

I currently have two Ocellaris Clowns, two peppermint shrimp, and five trochus snails, along with various other creatures that came in on the live rock(pods, small snails, worms, etc.)

I do not have any coral at the moment, but have been looking at ricordeas and other soft corals. I will likely add a couple corals first.

The two fish I am looking at right now:

Purple Firefish
Royal Gramma

Thoughts?

Either or Both would be good. Ideally introduce the firefish first.

I have a 50 gallon with some bumble bee snails and a nassarius snail.
I was looking into getting a Kaudern's Cardinal but have never had one before and was wondering if they were aggressive and a good choice.

what i plan on getting-
3 Blue Reef Chromis
1 Kaudern's Cardinal
1 Royal Gramma Basslet (will the Kaudern's Cardinal get along with/ try to eat the Royal Gramma Basslet)
and would eventually like to get a Mimic Saddle Puffer
any help would be awesome. Thanks!

(sorry if this is not posted right)

3 Blue Reef Chromis likely will become one over time
1 Kaudern's Cardinal
1 Royal Gramma Basslet (will the Kaudern's Cardinal get along with/ try to eat the Royal Gramma Basslet)
and would eventually like to get a Mimic Saddle Puffer this will nip fins of tank mates and is not invert safe

I intend to add a falcula butterfly to my tank.

My tank is 5 feet x 2 feet x 2 feet

I have a 55 gallon sump 29 of which are a refugium with a DSB, live rock and loads of macroalgae

Current population of the tank is
1 heteractis magnifica
2 tuxedo urchins
6 cleaner shrimps
1 pair of coral banded shrimps
1 pair of pistol shrimps
a selection of snails
several feather dusters
1 pair of percula clowns
1 pair of coral beauties
4 firefish
4 maccosker's flasher wrasse
1 yellow tang
1 lawnmower blenny
1 pair of randall's gobies

a Linckia laevigata is also on the "to do" list

Do I have room for one falcula butterfly?
Do I have room for a pair?

I'm not worried about the feather dusters being mowed down, I fairly like them, but they were hitchhikers and I want the butterfly more than the feather dusters.

The Falcula Butterflyfish will eat anemones, hard corals, and mushroom anemones. Possible shrimp predator as well.

my yellow Tang is still hiding is that normal?

That question would be best as a separate thread in New to the Hobby. This thread is only about marine fish compatibility and you have provided insufficient information for that to be assessed in your case.

I think I just made a big mistake! I wanted a royal gramma basslett to go with my two percula clownfish, blue/green chromis, and purple firefish. Unfortunately, I picked up a royal dottyback by mistake and I think he is going to be a terror in the tank. Much different temperament and somewhat aggressive. I think maybe tomorrow he comes out and goes back to the LFS. Lesson learned I guess. Also, my purple firefish just seems to hover in one part of the tank. Is this normal behavior?

Yes, they will be a royal PITA. Pretty, though.
