Would I be ok replacing the dotty back with a jawfish, blue dot?
So I will begin setting up my 93 cube in about a month and figured that I would run my stock list by you all. The cube has a 1500 gph gl*******s overflow, going to get either a 30-40 gal sump. Filtration will be ATS! Return pump either mag 7-9 will try trial and error during initial setup ( have both so easy swap ). Going to get 2 wp 25's for flow with new controller. Lighting will be 120w Chinese fixture to start and will be building an evil cluster w/multichannel chips etc...
Wish list for fish
Potters angel
2 gold bar maroon clowns pretty but super aggressive and will want to control about 50 gallons of tank space once sexually mature and bonded; difficult to add fish with these
Dragonet mandarin
Melanarus wrasse
Want to have sps heavy mixed reef with some lps
Let's hear your thoughts! Thanks
29g mixed reef..10g sump...50x turnover, Snails, hermits, green chromis, mandarin, yellow clown goby...
Wthout exceptional effort you will be unable to sustain the mandarin long term
I'm looking to add the following
1 Yasha/pistol pair
1 solar Wrasse needs a larger tank due to its activity level
Thanks in advance Snorvich!
55 Gallon tank with 24"length x 14"w x 15"H refugium/sump and a deep sand bed I have 120lbs of sand coming
CUC
30 Dwarf Ceriths - small effective cleaners
12 Nassarius
12 Florida Ceriths
1 Fighting Conch
11 Nerites
2 Emerald Crabs
Fishes:
2 b&w ocellaris clown fish
1 helfrichi firefish
1 purple firefish
2 yellow head jaw fish
1 Green Manadrin needs a larger tank for long term success
1 Tanaka's pygmy wrasse
1 Bicolor Dottyback very aggressive, will preclude any firefish
1 pink bar goby
Inverts/Corals
Soft Corals
Mushrooms
a blue tip Sebae anemone tank is probably a bit small for this; note that the anemone will only host A. clarkii or Premnas biaculeatus
Maybe a snapping shrimp to hang with the goby (maybe a pair from live aquaria's divers den)
I have a RSM 130, (30 Gallons) and its about three months old and wanting to add more fish. 30lbs live rock. All water parameters are good, apart from magnesium that is 1500. No corals yet.
I have: 2 x Chromis, (that will eventually be one)
and 1 x Royal Gramma
C.U.C. is
3 Nassarius
1 x Strombus
2 x Adult Trochus (2 very small ones also)
2 x White Glove Shrimp
I want to add
1 x Firefish goby (soon)
2 x Ocellaris Clowns (later)
Thanks for any input.

1 pink bar goby may negatively interact with your jawfish, but possibly not

I have large fuge just for growing copepods and I really want a Mandarin, I even tried to make my cuc so they wouldn't compete with it for them. Also would a Royal Gamma Basslet be a better choice instead of the dotty back?
Would a bta be better then the sebae? while this anemone can host your species of clownfish, they may or may not choose to associate with it.
Looking to set up an SPS dominated 50 or 60 gallon cube (24x24x18-24) will have sump, and skimmer rated for 125g. Sandbed will be 3-4" deep depending on height of the tank
For fish I'd like 2 clownfish (ocellaris or percula)
pair helfrichi firefish a pair can be done but for long term success, they would need to be a bonded male plus female
pygmy angel dwarf angels are not reef safe, especially towards meaty LPS corals
midas blenny can nip fins of tank mates
jawfish (yellow head or bluespot) A blue spot does best with cooler water temperatures; yellow can do fine as singles or even pairs
Order of adding
Jawfish first I would do this second
then firefish I would do this first
clownfish
midas blenny
pygmy angel last
How does this sound?
I have a 65g, deep wide and ksinny with a 20g sump, LED lighting, many corals including different kinds of zenias, various mushrooms, green and pink star polyps, several hammers, green spawn, leather, different dusters, sponge, and zoas and a bubble anenome. 60 lbs of live sand, 150 LBS of live fiji rock, and some conga branch. Attached fluval 303 with chem rit, phosphate removal, ceramic bio media (never cleaned), and water polisher pads that get regular replacement. Sump contains octopus skimmer, refuge with nitrate eating plants, and chamber of bioballs.
I recently had something go wrong and more half the fish died of ich, a discussion for another post. Started out with about 15 fish 8 months ago, in the last week I lost all but 5 fish.
which is an indication that you should not buy any new fish for about 8 weeks minimum
In the past I have had to remove a couple of damsels, a black clown, and a yellow tang from super aggression nawing on the back fins and chasing others around and even chasing one out of the top of the tank.
Your tank is not large enough for any tangs; which is one of the reasons your yellow tang was so aggressive towards tank mates
I currently have a cleaner wrasse, two tank raised perculas, cleaner shrimp, scooter blennie, anenome, and a blue hippo. I love the hippo being so friendly and easy going and wanted to add more of these maybe 2 or three more.
Actually, P. hepatus (Dory) needs an 8 foot 240 gallon tanks as a minimum so one is too many and more than one is way too many
Will multiple Hippos fight each other or just school together, like dory in the movie who is kind of air headed and absent minded like the one I have? Assuming any characteristics of the fish in the movie transferring to real fish in your aquarium is, unfortunately, a major mistake.
Also looking to get a replacement for the lost- Imperator Angel which needs a 180 gallon tank minimum, psuedocrhomis which is super aggressive , flame angel, coral beauty (my flame and beauty never bothered each other and were added as babies together), cleaner goby, and diamond back goby.
Thoughts on the multi hippos? What about a cleaner goby, saw saw one for the first time at petco for $9, the hang at the bottom half the time like a goby, and the rest of the time follow other fish around and try to clean them.?
Buying fish at Petco without an established quarantine protocol is a recipe for disaster as you already found out
