bioload is fine, with no lined wrasse, all can work except as noted above
Thank you for your reply.
Would a Carpenter or McClosker Flasher work as a substitute for the six line?

Hi there,
In the process of upgrading my 60 gallon FOWLR to a 90 gallon reef tank with a 30 gallon sump/fuge. Working on getting my fish list put together and had some questions (of course)
=)
I currently have:
1 x Salarias ramosus
1 x Gobiodon strangulatus
1 x Gobiodon atrangulatus
1 x Gobiodon citrinus
1 x Valenciennea strigata
2 x Nemateleotris magnifica only if a male + female pair
And a bonded pair of Amphiprion ocellaris
I would like to add:
1 x Centropyge loriculus
And it was suggested to me to add:
1 x Zebrasoma flavescens
-or-
1 x Zebrasoma xanthurum
-and-
Ctenochaetus flavicauda this is the only tang I would consider
I originally planned on adding the Zebrasoma flavescens in addition to 3-5 Pseudanthias squamipinnis (this was also by suggestion), but I am wary of adding the anthias because they get so big. I want something my fish can grow into instead of grow out of.
carberryi or resplendent anthias would work and stay reasonably sized.
***I do plan on adding a m/f pair of Synchiropus splendidus once my pod population has been established (waiting about a year).
If I could do the list of fish I have, in addition to the flame angel, the yellow tang, the bristletooth tang, and a single six line wrasse (all added last), that would be ideal, but it's understood if that is one to many tangs in the tank. But, I think I'd rather skip the anthias all together. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry for such a long post!
Thank you!
Revising my fish list for my 75G with coral tank.
I currently have
purple firefish
red head goby
bicolor blenny
couple cleaner shrimp
peppermint shrimp
sea star
Would like to add
Foxface Lo either this fish or the kole tang but not both
Pacific Redstripe Hogfish will eat shrimp and possibly small fish
Kole Yellow Eye Tang
Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse
Would these additions be compatible with my current fish?
New thoughts...65 Gallon (36x18x24) with a 20 gallon sump, mixed reef and a DSB. Was considering the following fish. Could I add more or just about right for bioload? What order should they be added as well? Thanks for the help!
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
Firefish, Helfrichi* need tank cover (not egg crate)
Blue Spot Jawfish (lower temp)
Green Mandarin (Mature Tank)
Could I fit? yes
Spotted Cardinalfish
and/or Gold Assessor Basslet
Okay I have a 29 gallon setup for about a year now with lots of rock and sand. In another year I would like to upgrade to a 50 or 75 gallon. Right now I have 3 fish all about an inch long:
sixline wrasse
ocellaris clown
bluegreen chromis
plus 7 nassarius snails and a peppermint shrimp
I feed the fish heavy and they all get along. I hope the sixline doesn't get territorial. it probably will
I would like to add soon: fine
captive bred kaudern's cardinal ~1"
royal gramma ~1"
I have 220 DT setup for 9 months FOWLR with plans to go mixed reef in a few more months.
Current stock includes:
2) snowflake clowns
3) pajama cardinals
1) Banggai cardinal
2) firefish gobies
1) lawn mower Blenny
1) fire shrimp
4) serpent stars
1) sand sifting star
Nassarius
Ceriths
Astreas
Cucumbers
Local Petco is very good with saltwater fish and has a Sailfin Tang that looks healthy but has been hanging out for a while.
Any concerns with this guy in my DT? No concerns but be sure to QT for a minimum of 4 weeks or use tank transfer to eliminate the possibility of cryptocaryon irritans.
He's only about 5" now so he should be fine in my 29 QT for a while.
46 gal mixed reef with yellow wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus) and Choral Beauty. Moved everything else to the new 120 which I will ask about in my next post. Have mostly soft corals with some frogspawn, Bubble coral, Ricordea, Purple plate sponge and Birdsnest. Want to add more SPS in time.
What additional fish can i add to this system? The wrasse and Coral Beauty are shy and there is not much visibly happening.
Could I add a pajama cardinal? no problem
Hoping to include a goby variety with a matching shrimp. Would a yellow watchman and a banded pistol shrimp be acceptable? Tank stays at a consistent 80 degrees F. Is this a problem for goby varieties? no issue. Catalina gobies require cool temperatures, otherwise you should be fine
This system has been in stable operation for 18months. It has had a HOB refugium and a good population of pods for almost a year. I would like to add a dragonet. Any species recommended?
I see people adding multiple wrasses to larger tanks. with the yellow wrasse am i limited? Could I add a Ruby Head, Six Line or McCoskers wrasse?
Current inhabitants:
2 lyretail Anthias
Flame Hawkfish
One spot foxface
Yellow Tang this will limit choices because once established, it is very aggressive
Blue Tang If this is a hepatus tang, RC recommends a 240 gallon tank
Planning for this to be a FOWLR although there are some button polyps and frogspawn corals currently in the tank.
Can we add:
harlequin tusk? sure
Puffer, Dogface or Porcupine? I do not provide recommendations on aggressive fish
Copper Banded Butterfly? or other species? CBB require peaceful tank mates which the yellow is not
Boxfish? an expert level fish, I would not recommend it
All of the current inhabitants are approximately 3 inches in size
Thanks for your input.
your tank is not really large enough for highly active fish such as these40 gallon tank, 16 gallon sump. filter sock, skimmer, refuge growing chaeto run 24/7, GFO/GAC. Para reads phos .03, nitrate 5. Temp is run lower, generally in the 78~ region.
Currently growing SPS and LPS with ease. Would like to maintain a light bioload but fish seems very inactive with fish that hide a lot.
Current stock list:
Pair of snowflake clowns (the only active fish)
Pair of helfrechi firefish (always hiding, never visible) clowns may be intimidating these or other fish if they are mature
Yasha goby w/ pistol shrimp (always hiding)
Flame angel (gazing but hardly ever shows himself)
Cleaner shrimp
Various snails
Interested in adding a wrasse or two (McCoskers/another type of flasher or a mystery). I have a net covering my tank. Thoughts?
That would be too many copepod eaters in only a moderately sized tank
Thanks for the response. 90g with 30g sump w/live rock and protein skimmer Revised:
Current:
2 Ocellaris clowns
neon goby
Lawnmower blennie
Royal gramma
coral banded shrimp
pistol shrimp
I would like to add the following:
Randal orange striped prawn goby
Firefish x 2 (male and a female)
green chromis x 5 You can put 5 in, but you will end up with one or at most a pair
green mandarin (after tank is well established, i have already started to dose with pods)
