Currently have a 133 gallon (48x24x27) mixed reef aquarium.

Current stocking list:
-Chevron tang
-Black Oscellaris clown
-Royal gramma
-6 line wrasses
-2x blue chromis

Thinking about possibly adding a yellow tang. Do you think this would be ok? Thanks

Marginal. Likely conflict.

I'm interested in adding a annularis angel to my 125gal long(17" high). I understand the adult can get to 12" but how long does it take to get that size?

It is impossible to answer that question even if the environment were more clearly defined. Tank size is only one of many variables involved.

Still in the planning stages, but was wondering if this list would be alright:

75 gallon w/ 20 gallon sump and skimmer. Will start out as FOWLR but will eventually be doing soft and LPS corals.

Will have various snails, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, sexy shrimp

1x-firefish
1x Midas Blenny or Bicolor, still deciding which I like the looks of better.
1x Diamond Watchman Goby
2x Ocellaris Clownfish
1x Barletts Anthias or flame angel
1x possum wrasse
1x Foxface Lo

Would love to add a mandarin a year later.

Is this too much for a 75 gallon? Does it look like everyone would get along alright?

1x Diamond Watchman Goby
2x Ocellaris Clownfish
1x Barletts Anthias or flame angel falme angel is not reef safe, especially towards LPS corals
1x possum wrasse
1x Foxface Lo Unless well fed, can be a danger to corals

Would love to add a mandarin a year later.

bioload is fine

Currently have a 75 gallon mixed reef tank. Running a Trigger Systems Rube 30 sump with a Reef Octopus Diablo 160 skimmer. My current stock list is.

Purple Firefish
Red Head Goby
Bicolor Blenny
Two Chalk Bass
McCoskers Wrasse
Tomini Tang

My LFS has an ORA Neon Dotty that I would like to get. Would it work with what I currently have?

Gorgeous fish, sadly, but unfortunately not. Very mean and aggressive fish.

fish wish list

fish wish list

I recently (3 weeks ago) purchased a 200 gallon tank and plan on doing a FOWLR. I bought this tank with one fish in mind; a Queen Angelfish and was told at the LFS that this was the Minimum tank size that I needed to keep the fish healthy. that being said, in the time being, i had my LFS look into other fish for me and here is the list that i put together (keep in mind that the Queen is a definite):

1 Queen Angelfish (already bought and around 2.5 inches)
1 Purple Tank
3 masked Butterfly Fish
mated pair of Black black ice clowns
3-5 lyretail Anthias
1 Flame Hawkfish (my son fell in love with it)
5 Banghii Cardinals
1 Blue Spotted Jawfish (tank is covered)
pair of Blue Leopard Wrasse (male and female)
i also plan on getting a mandarin down the road when tank is well established.

I have approximatley 150lbs of LR and an oversized skimmer as well as a small refugium (CPR Medium size). I do not have a sand bottom I liked the black bottom too much to pass. My flow rate is a little rediculous if you ask me with an EcoTech mp40 as well as 2 Sicce 4.0 for my returns (952 gph each). Eshopps RS 300 with Reef Octopus extreme rated for 300 gallons i believe.

another question that I have for you is, should I get rid of my filter socks on my intake? so many conflicting opinions on the threads.

right now i only have cleanup and cleaner shrimp in my tank. and I plan on Picking up these fish at the end of this month which will be 7 weeks since i put water into it.

let me know if I am heading to disaster or if i should have no problems. As far as the Size of the Tank, we will be moving in a year and a half and will have room for my 450 gallon tank so these fish will not outgrow the tank.

If you want healthy fish, investigate and establish a quarantine protocol.

1 Queen Angelfish (already bought and around 2.5 inches)
1 Purple Tank can get aggressive
3 masked Butterfly Fish
mated pair of Black black ice clowns
3-5 lyretail Anthias
1 Flame Hawkfish (my son fell in love with it)
5 Banghii Cardinals you only get two, and then only a male plus female; must be tank raised
1 Blue Spotted Jawfish (tank is covered) needs cooler temperatures; 73-74 F as they are collected in the sea of cortez
pair of Blue Leopard Wrasse (male and female) expert level fish; must have a well established tank since the eat copepods in addition to frozen mysis
i also plan on getting a mandarin down the road when tank is well established. the leopard wrasses may not allow this fish to survive

If you want leopard wrasses, you must have a sand bottom and especially for the blue spotted jawfish

This thread is only about marine fish compatibilty

right now i only have cleanup and cleaner shrimp in my tank. and I plan on Picking up these fish at the end of this month which will be 7 weeks since i put water into it. You are NOT going to be successful putting all these fish in together with not quarantine protocol. You do not just buy fish and put them all in together. NOTHING good ever happens quickly in this hobby. While I gave you a read on the behavioral compatibility, you need to learn to crawl before you walk

let me know if I am heading to disaster or if i should have no problems. If you just add those fish in 7 weeks, it will be most likely a disaster As far as the Size of the Tank, we will be moving in a year and a half and will have room for my 450 gallon tank so these fish will not outgrow the tank.

I forgot to mention that I am now using my 29 gallon biocube as a QT.
goodbye Leopard Wrasse and 2 Cardinals and Jawfish. would you have any suggestions on replacements for the wrasse and Jawfish? also, I am reading conflicting opinions on when I should place the Queen Angel in the tank; any where from it doesnt matter because of the size and Last because it is aggressive. What is your understanding on when I should add her?

My plan was to get the QA, clowns, butterflies and Hawkfish (no fish over 3") and QT them for 32 days and then get the rest.

I really appreciate you taking the time for answering all of these questions.

The general "rule" is most aggressive fish last. However, in your case, a queen angel will not "notice" any of your other fish because they do not reside in the same ecological niche.

While not a subject for this thread, my blog has a suggested quarantine protocol. But each fish introduced must be quarantined. Some of your fish, such as semilarvatus butterfly fish are highly susceptible to cryptocaryon irritans, commonly known as ich.

I really appreciate you taking the time for answering all of these questions.

Always a pleasure. If you have a new stocking list feel free to check back.

I have a 75 gallon with 70 pds live rock 3 inch bed of crushed coral and sand, cpr 2 protein skimmer, sealife wet dry. Was wanting to get some hardy fish. Thinking a coral beauty, watchman gobie. What would be some other good fish and cuc. I have a few weeks before tank cycles.

I am planning my next build. It is going to be a 29g w/ a 20L sump.

Current Stock:
2 False Percs
1 Royal Gramma

Wishlist:
1 Green Mandarin (Is this tank too small?)
1 Two Spotted Goby or Sleeper Gold Head Goby (Would Mandarin and a Goby fight for food?)

Either or both of these will be fine together.

Wishlist:
1 Green Mandarin (Is this tank too small?) Yes, the tank is too small and too immature
1 Two Spotted Goby or Sleeper Gold Head Goby (Would Mandarin and a Goby fight for food?)

Neither of these will survive long in that sized tank, sorry.

I have a 125gal with a 40b sump. no fish yet. tank is settling after completing its cycle. has some hermit crabs(5) and a coral banded shrimp(will be evicted if it is recommended). tank will be a mixed reef with mostly softies and Zoas. what say you? :)
2 Ocellaris clowns
1 Powder blue tang(or yellow tang)
1 Yellow watchman goby
1 lawnmower blenny
3 spotted cardinalfish
1 foxface lo
1 blue throat trigger
1 Mandarin to be added 6-9 months later, after pods have had time to establish

Thank you for taking the time to help with this.

coral banded shrimp can take fish

2 Ocellaris clowns
1 Powder blue tang(or yellow tang)
1 Yellow watchman goby
1 lawnmower blenny
3 spotted cardinalfish
1 foxface lo
1 blue throat trigger triggers and clean up crew tend to be mutually exclusive

While your three large fish conform to the minimum tank size recommended, that number of largish fish will make your tank look small.

Thank you for taking the time to help with this.
