I appreciate all of your knowledge and information on this thread. I read it religiously, even though I haven't added a fish to either tank in almost a year (I am focusing on adding corals.)

Thanks for the explanation! I do have a pygmy angel in my larger tank, and you mention often to watch them around meaty corals,

I have a harem of one male and two females in one of my tanks and they mate pretty much every day at "sunset" (dusk). Very interesting and pretty fish.

so I wanted to make sure I was making good choices in my coral selections.

i am starting to make a 14 gallon tank with 5 lb of live rock and 1 in live sand i will be making this tank a clown fish breeding tank and i am wondering what fish i can put with a breeding pair of clown fish?

None. Also, you will need a larger tank for breeding clownfish.

If you wish to know about breeding clownfish, get Clownfishes: A Guide to Their Captive Care, Breeding & Natural History by Joyce D. Wilkerson. This is not a discussion thread, you asked for an opinion, I provided one. A breeding pair of clownfish will want to control 25-50 gallons of tank space depending on the species. A bonded, breeding pair of clownfish is anywhere from aggressive, to exceptionally aggressive depending on which species.

I keep changing my mind on tank sizes, but hopefully this week I'll be getting a 65 gallon to setup a reef, not 100% on dimensions but I think 48x12x24.

As far as fish I'm thinking:
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
Royal Gramma
Sixline Wrasse
Maybe Yellowhead Jawfish(will take off list if not compatible w/Royal Gramma)
Kole or Mimic Tang

2 inch six line wrasse
Small volitan lionfish
Small Bangaii Cardinal
2 inch Heniochus Butterflyfish
Large Diamond spot goby (sand sifter)
2 medium ocellaris clowns
Small Algae Blenny

I plan on getting a Sailfin Tang and a Yellow Tang later, but I have a buddy who can sell me his 7 inch Annularis Angel to me. Would that be ok to put in my tank with these small fish right now, and then add the tangs last later? Thanks!

Matt, I do not provide commentary on aggressive fish tanks. There is, however, no fish you currently have that the Volitan lionfish will not eventually eat or try to eat.

Reef Central's recommended tank size for tangs can be found here. However, it is not just a tank size issue. In general, you want to add the most aggressive fish last, least aggressive fish first. As such, planning your entire stocking list is desirable.

about 40lbs of live rock ( will add another 5-10lbs soon)
going to be a soft coral reef

Live stock (yet to buy any but tank is already cycled) in order of most desired:
2 false perc clown fish
1 purple fire fish
1 flasher wrasse
1 purple fire fish
1 jester goby
1 skunk cleaner shrimp + snail clean up crew

1 flasher wrasse needs a larger tank
1 purple fire fish only one firefish unless it is a bonded pair
1 jester goby
1 skunk cleaner shrimp + snail clean up crew

you have jumpers so 1/4 inch mesh is a requirement
