I spotted a 33 gallon long at the pet shop that may find a home with me next paycheck. I am hoping that the extra length will help smooth out any territorial conflicts.
33 Gallon long(48.3" x 12.8" x 13.4") display tank with a reef on either end, and an empty space in the middle for swimming area. Shallow sand bed, probably fiji argonite.
20 gallon dedicated refugium, Live rock and shallow crushed coral substrate
10 gallon sump
Hob refugium(1-2lbs liverock rubble)
HOB refugium:
Chaetomorpha algae
Inverts in dedicated(display) refugium:
Banded coral shrimp can take fish
3 assorted dwarf hermits hermits kill snails so choose one or the other
2 or 3 snails
Red bush algae
Grape kelp
Smooth leaf purple kelp
Mermaid's fan
Inverts in display:
1 Pom Pom Crab
3 Sexy anenome shrimp
3 Peppermint shrimp
3-4 big snails, trochus and astrea
2 Nassarius snails
2 bumble bee snails
Fish in display:
(2) Ocellaris clownfish
(1) Mandarin Dragonet (ORA Tank bred, guaranteed to eat frozen food, will not purchase from LFS unless i see it eat frozen food. Will target feed and supplement system with life copepods at regular intervals. ORA bred mandarins have reported mixed results; perhaps you will get lucky.
(1) Firefish goby
(1) Yellow coris wrasse (will it compete for pods with the mandarin?) not safe with your inverts; needs a larger tank
(1) Tiger watchman goby(sand sifter)
(listed in order of desire)
This'll be in a 40 breeder.
2x true perc
1x flame angel/Lemonpeel angel (going in last)
1x royal gramma
1x Purple firefish (starting with this)
1x bicolor blenny/tailspot I would only do one blenny, probably this one, but in this sized tank with a dwarf angel, would most likely skip any blennies.
1x Jawfish Yellowhead
1x lawnmower blenny not reef safe towards clams and lps
Will I have trouble with the last 3 things get along okay? Or will the jawfish be bullied too much since the tank isn't that large. tough call.
If I keep out the dwarf angel, would this be okay?
2x true perc
1x royal gramma
1x Purple firefish
1x Jawfish Yellowhead
1x tailspot blenny
1x Pygmy Wrasse
1x Court Jester Goby
I'll go with either this or replace the last 3 with an angel. Might stick with the angel since I'm nots ure if I can find the wrasse and goby.

Coral in display:
Primarily softies and lps like: Xenia, kenya, leather, star polyp, frogspawn/hammer, chalice(that's lps right?), candy cane, brain, zoos.
Fine except with previous notation on ORA mandarin
Thanks a bundle man. You are a big asset to the community.
Thanks, I actually saw ORA's black neon dotty and fell in love, I am keeping it in the place of the pipefish and it will be alone in the fugegenerally, a good plan; my only concern is that some gobies do not do well with conspecifics, but your tank size, and appropriate aquascaping my obviate that issue
I have a 28g JBJ nanocube with 30# of LR and a 1" sand bed.
Invert:
12 Astrea Snails
5 Bumblebee Snails
3 Nassarrius Snails
1 Emerald Crab
I have added one 2" Flame Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus jordani) and a friend is taking down his tank and has offered me a 3" Scott's Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus scottorum). Should I take him up on my offer?
Both require larger tanks (considerably). C. scottorum is very, very aggressive and is not compatible with C. jordani at all, especially in a tiny tank
I have a couple LPS in the tank (frogspawn, torch) and plan for this to be a coral centric tank with no more than 4 total fish...the others are not yet decided upon but I'm leaning towards a sand sifting goby and possibly a clown fish (children are clamoring for "nemo").
Thank you in advance for the advise.
180 gallon 6x2x2 tank with 75 gallon sump/refugium. Planning a new FOWLR with barebottom. No current residents (week 3 of fishless cycle). When cycle is complete, I'd like to slowly add the following, in order:
Decorated rabbitfish
1M / 4F Lyretail Anthias
Blue Girdled Angelfish
(2) Schooling bannerfish
Threadfin/auriga butterflyfish
(4) Golden Butterflyfish
Powder blue tang
For a six foot tank, this is a fair number of largish fish; however, be sure to carefully quarantine and be sure the semilarvatus butterfly fish are introduced together early.
Also, I'd like a clean-up crew, but I'm guessing snails are out with this group of fish. Maybe a bunch of hermit crabs?
Hi setting up a new 250litre reef tank for my sister and she really likes the orchid dottyback (pseudochromis fridmani) and royal gramma (gramma loreto). However, I'm not sure what else to suggest. Any suggestions?
Hi!
Can you verify my modified whis list?
And the order I propose is that good?
125G (50x26x22) + 40G sump mixed reef, 6 t5ho x 54w, invert like anemone, shrimp, snail, crab, star
1. 1 mini tiny oscellaris clown + 1 firefish purple
2. 1 oscellaris clownfish, 1royal gramma, 1 tailspot blenny, 1 pajama cardinal (already have in a 25G that I want to transfert in that new tank) I would do both A. ocellaris at the same time
3. 1 Orange back fairy wrasse and 1 pink banded goby
4. 2 watanabe angel female, concurrently This may or may not work, but I would say the odds are only 50/50
5. 1M/6F resplendant anthias
6. 1 black bar chromis
7. Maybe 1 kole tang or scopas or white chek tang if its possible?
Fine, except as noted
Thank you!!
Do I have better chance if I put only one Watanabe female?
