I am slowly re-stocking my 80 gallon display tank. I currently have a bonded pair of Onyx clowns in the DT.
I have a firefish and a longspine cardinal in the QT almost ready to go to the DT. I was thinking of getting a bonded pair of Banggai cardinals. Will they get along with the longspine? I was originally going to keep the longspine in the QT permanently but I would rather have him in the DT. I can kep him in the QT if I have to.

I have a 125 gallon tank with 30 sump. Equipment is SRO 1000SSS, Chiller, GFO/Carbon Reactor, Bi-Weekly water changes.

Currently Livestock is:
1. Orangestripe Diamond Goby
2. Firefish
3. Purple Firefish
4. Lyretail Anthias
5. Large FoxFace
6. Large Blue Tang
7. Small Tomini Tang

Corals (Bubble, Hammers, Leathers, Mushrooms, Brain, Elegance. Montipora, Weslopyhlia).

Will like to add:
1. Small Sailfin Tang
2. Blenny
3. Watchman Goby
4. 2 Anthias
5. 2 Ocellaris Clownfish

I think i am a little crowded allready but will like your advise and give it a try. Maybe avoid the Sailfin and get the little fishes and thanks for your great help and advise.

Hi Steve,
You've mentioned many times the Blue Spot Jawfish need cooler temps. Any idea if the collection area makes a difference? I've been impressed with our new LFS and they claim that the variety from Mexico are fine at 'normal' temps.

Thanks

They are all collected in the sea of cortez which, of course, is in Mexico. In my opinion, cooler temperatures result in long term success. 72-75F.

Okay, made my decision
37 G tank
yellowhead jawfish
citrinis goby
colored filefish
firefish introduce first
green chromis
2 pink skunk

This should be fine. You have two prolific jumpers so be sure your tank is tightly covered (NOT eggcrate). Good job. We are done(!).

Steve... I think you missed mine...

Currently Livestock is:
1. Orangestripe Diamond Goby
2. Firefish longer term, only one firefish will survive
3. Purple Firefish
4. Lyretail Anthias
5. Large FoxFace
6. Large Blue Tang If this is P. hepatus, it requires a much larger tank
7. Small Tomini Tang

Corals (Bubble, Hammers, Leathers, Mushrooms, Brain, Elegance. Montipora, Weslopyhlia).

Will like to add:
1. Small Sailfin Tang with two tangs and an additional grazer (foxface) this is very undesirable
2. Blenny
3. Watchman Goby only one shrimp goby for long term survival
4. 2 Anthias
5. 2 Ocellaris Clownfish

Sorry, I did not intend to exclude yours. I have my pages set differently than most and when the pages change, sometimes I miss one (or more).

Good group? or bad idea?

Yellowhead Jawfish
Yellow Clown Goby
Green Clown Goby
Yellow Watchman Goby
Royal Gramma
Blue Gudgeon Dartfish

36g Bowfront FOWLR with GFO & Carbon Reactor
CUC is 12 scarlet hermits and getting 12 snails tomorrow

Also what order is best in adding them?

Thank you for the help!!!

Yellowhead Jawfish I would suggest this one first so it can establish a home.
Yellow Clown Goby generally, the clown gobies do not like each other, especially in a small tank, so I would advise only one
Green Clown Goby
Yellow Watchman Goby
Royal Gramma

Pretty good group; always most aggressive last, which in your cae is the gramma loretto

I have a 150Gallon with a 55Gal sump (W ref). Octo 150 Skimmer insump, 135Lbs live rock, 240lbs total sand including what is in the refuge, EG IT2080 LED. Tank has been running now for over 20 days, cycle seems complete, tested AMM=0, Nitrite=0, Nitrate dropped from 10 to 2.5 two days ago, Salt at steady 1.025 and temp fluctuates around 78 to 78.5.
I am planning on a mix LPS/ SPS tank. The fish I plan on adding are below. I was torn between adding a jaw fish or Fox face as the first. Going to give the tank a few more days just to be sure it is ready. I had put in () the time frame I am looking to add. Let me know what you think.

Hippo Tang (1year)
Sailfin Tang (6months)
Ocellaris Clownfish (8months with bubble tip)
Madrine (dragonet) (next year sometime)
Bartlett's Anthias (last)
Jaw Fish (this month as first fish maybe) (or next month as 2nd)
Foxface (this month as first fish maybe) (or next month as 2nd)

For reef central's recommended minimum tank sizes for tanks please see this link. For tangs, especially, length is more important than gallonage.

Hippo Tang (1year) needs a longer and larger tank
Sailfin Tang (6months) needs a longer and larger tank
Ocellaris Clownfish (8months with bubble tip) For any clownfish make sure the anemone you supply is one they associate with
Madrine (dragonet) (next year sometime)
Bartlett's Anthias (last)
Jaw Fish (this month as first fish maybe) (or next month as 2nd)
Foxface (this month as first fish maybe) (or next month as 2nd)

Except as noted, all should be fine.

You dont expect issues between the Yellowhead jaw, Green clown Goby, and the Yellow watchman do you?

The green clown goby will be immaterial to the jawfish or the watchman as they are in totally different ecological niches. The jawfish and the watchman may interact with the jawfish being protective of its home. I do not see it as a problem, however.

Great, thank you!

I have an 80 gal tank with a 40 gallon sump. Currently I have 2 Ocellaris clowns, a purple firefish and a long spine cardinal. I would like to add a pair of Banggai cardinals. Will they be ok with the long spine? Thanks for your help.

Yes. However, they should be tank raised and only a male and female will coexist.

new fish

new fish

i am new to the hobby and i have had my tank cycleing for 1 week now. i have a 80 gallon tank with about 80 lbs of live rock and 3 corals not sure what they are was given to my by the person that helps me set up my tank. i have 2 fans not what they are called. i have a sump with a ASM Protein Skimmer Sedra 3500 in it and i have had my protein skimmer running for 3 days now and the tank going for a week. i want to put 2 Ocellaris Clownfish and 1 Cleaner Shrimp in it due to they are on sale at the store near me. is it to early to put the clown fish and shrimp in?

In my 125 with a 40g sump/refugium (Aquamaxx CO-2 ConeS skimmer) I have the following:
Pajama Cardinal
Lawnmower Blenny
Blue Chromis
Purple Firefish
2 Wyoming White Clowns
McCoskers Flasher Wrasse
Flame Angel
Several cleaner, a peppermint and a fire shrimp

I'd like to add:
Blue Reef Chromis
Yellowhead Jawfish
Yasha Goby and shrimp
Green Mandarin
One Spot Foxface
Purple Tang
Either a White Tail Bristletooth Tang (always unavailable!) or a Powder Blue Tang
Any compatibility issues?
Overstocked? If so, by how much?
I'm worried there are a lot of fish in the lower portion of the tank.

Thanks!
