55 gallon with 22gallon sump

2 b&w ocellaris clown fish
1 helfrichi firefish
1 purple firefish
2 neon gobies only one
2 yellow head jaw fish needs rock rubble and 3-4 inches of sand substrate
1 midas blenny I would skip this or go with another blenny as they nip
1 Tanaka's pygmy wrasse

Ok I only want a couple snowflake clowns and was think of a Flaming prawn goby that's it maybe one more fish if I could something that would work rest would different corals but like said I'm just in thinking part right now have a few snails in there and 4 blue legs hurmits right now.was just think next step.
2 snowflake clowns
1 flaming prawn goby
1 ?

Tank size 75g + 40g sump. Filter sock + NAC 7 skimmer. Nitrate 0, PO4 0.
Current inhabitants: Kole tang, 2 small clownfish, 5 green chromis and six line wrasse.

Want to add:

1. Solorensis wrasse
2. McCoskers OR Carpenter's flasher wrasses.
3. Pair/trio/quad of Bartlett anthias or Ignitus anthias.

How about

1. remove six line wrasse
2. add Solorensis wrasse
3. add McCoskers OR Carpenter's flasher wrasses.
4. add firefish
5. add royal grammar
6. add neon goby.

any wrasse can work with six lines in a 75g?

that would work but the flaming prawn goby is pretty small and would not be all that visible. You might look at one of the three species of Wetmorella pygmy wrasses for your last fish. That would go well with the combination. Sorry, I cannot remember posts but this thread is very long and I cannot go backwards feasibly.

How about

1. remove six line wrasse
2. add Solorensis wrasse on the aggressive side and will lose coloration over time absent a female
3. add McCoskers OR Carpenter's flasher wrasses.
4. add firefish
5. add royal grammar
6. add neon goby.

should be fine

any wrasse can work with six lines in a 75g? not really, they are a PITA

Hi there,

120G with 50G sump...

Current residents are:

2x Bonded ocellaris
1 Blotchy Anthias
1 Labouti Fairy Wrasse
1 Red Sea Harlequin Filefish

Going forward I'm thinking of adding:

1 Helfrichi Firefish
1 Flasher Wrasse (Line spot or Red Tail) (Male)
1 Divided Leopard Wrasse (Female)
and finally, 1 Purple Tang

Do you see any major issues other than adding to livestock when the clown eggs are laid (which is every couple of weeks)?

Many thanks!

Mating A. ocellaris only require about 25 gallons of tank space to protect their eggs so I do not se that as an issue. I would add the firefish early on since sometimes flasher wrasses act out towards firefish

Many thanks!

10g bare bottom with 12-15 lbs live rock taken from active 90g
Cycling as we speak (post/read, I guess)

In order:
Porcelain crab
Firefish
Two-spot blenny

Can I add 6 small hermit crabs as well, or will they eat too much of the blenny's algae?

I read that they will eat larger pieces of meaty food as well as filter feed. Incorrect?

They feed by combing plankton and other organic particles from the water using long setae (feathery hair or bristle-like structures) on the mouthparts. I have only seen them wave their setae to feed so I cannot say if they can capture larger pieces of food. I fed frozen cyclopeeze and nutramar ova.

Splitting tank

Splitting tank

SO, I have filled up my 75g with corals and decided to take the plunge into a larger tank while still keeping the 75G. Still in the planning phase so i need to ask questions in regards to 2 separate tank setups.

Current fish setup:
2x Osc. Clownfish
1x Mccoskers flasher wrasse
1x Carpenters flasher wrasse
1x Diamond watchman goby
1x yellow clown goby(very small 1in guy)
1x Kole yellow eye tang
1x pygmy dwarf angelfish
1x banghai cardinalfish
1x pj cardinalfish

Current issue that has risen is the Kole tang has become aggressive towards the diamond goby. He just doesn't like the goby and chases him back to his hole on occasion. BIGGER issue is the pygmy angel has decided to torment the 2 clown-fish in their corner(they don't move really from their corner other than to chase the pygmy when he starts a fight). Coming to major fighting and fin damage on all 3 fish.

I plan to move all the fish except the Kole tang and pygmy Angel to the new 125G where i plan to also move all the coral and half the rocks. I want the 125G to become my new reef tank while the 75G goes more fish focused. Going to add more rocks to both tanks.

For the 75G:
Kole tang
Pygmy Angel
would like to add a Green Spotted Puffer(Converted to Marine)
OR
Toby puffer
OR
Valentini puffer
(Wife loves puffer so trying to get her a small puffer tank)

125G:
2x Osc. Clownfish
1x Mccosker;s flasher wrasse
1x Carpenters flasher wrasse
1x Diamond watchman goby
1x yellow clown goby(very small 1in guy)
1x banghai cardinalfish
1x pj cardinalfish
Would like to add more flasher wrasses at least 2-3 more
AND/OR
3x Carberryi anthias
OR
3x Squareback anthias
Would like to add a Sail-fin tang
OR
purple tang

I love the Sail-fins but looks like the Purples are gorgeous and stay smaller. Trying to under stock my tanks this time as i believe some of my aggression issues in the 75G are from too many fish.

Would love feedback on my planning for fish purchases. I still have a long way before purchasing but would like to have a "vision" for the future this time around.

Kole tang
Pygmy Angel these can be a PITA
would like to add a Green Spotted Puffer(Converted to Marine)

Toby puffer probably best but not invert safe
OR
Valentini puffer Of the puffers, this is probably second best but not invert safe

1x pj cardinalfish
Would like to add more flasher wrasses at least 2-3 more
AND/OR try to find females for the males
3x Carberryi anthias excellent
OR remember, anthias need to be fed multiple times per day for best results
3x Squareback anthias
Would like to add a Sail-fin tang
OR
purple tang aggressive once established so no other conspecifics going forward

I love the Sail-fins but looks like the Purples are gorgeous and stay smaller. Trying to under stock my tanks this time as i believe some of my aggression issues in the 75G are from too many fish.

Thank you very much for the feedback.

I am concerned about the Purple tang being aggressive towards the other small fish in the 125G tank. I want it to be the "centerpiece" and only large fish BUT I was caught off guard from my Kole tang being a jerk to my goby that i don't want that happen again. It is why i was considering the sail-fin instead as I have read they are peaceful(as far as tangs go)

Puffer wise I am leaning towards the Blue Spotted Toby Puffer for the 75G.
And yes i don't plan on having any inverts besides the misc. snails that stay behind from the live rock.

Again would like to thank you for your recommendations especially on the wrasses I think getting some females for the 2 males is a great idea. They are full of personality and are the highlight of the 75G currently.
