Stocking a 300 gallon 8 ft tank was wondering I this would be a doable list about 250lbs of live rock and 3 inch sand bed

Queen angel must be last fish introduced; difficult and should be fed multiple times per day
Potters angel
Purple tang introduce tangs concurrently and last but before the queen angel
Pacific sailfin tang
Kliens butterfly
Gold headed sleeper goby makes sand storms
3 firefish I recommend only one as only one will normally survive long term
8 blue/green chromis will become one over time
2 lyrtail anthias
Niger Triger can be a PITA
Arc eye hawkfish not shrimp or small fish safe
Yellow candy hogfish
Lawnmower blenny
Pair of maroon/gold stripe clowns very aggressive
Yellow tail tamarin wrasse

Great buy!1 I got it from a guy that moved and put it on consignmet at my pal's store. I have several SPS's and a bunch of Zoe's. all in "full bloom. My fave is a "Palm Tree coral w/23 palms..!! cool! I added a diamond goby and a cleaner wrasse, 3 Cromis and a blue tang... The Cromis were first..(2 weeks) then the tang..who died of ick. (btw the tank had been running in the store for 4 weeks and was fully cycled).. with live cured rocks too...
The cleaner wrasse, and a chromis, the diamond goby.."disappeared"..!!! never to be seen again...what the heck???? Where did they go???looked in the back an everywhere????? WTH??:idea:
I just introed a forktailed Bleny..really cool lil guy...hovers and is great...Next will be an anemone and a Clark's clown. 3 lyretail anthias'..and a very small Foxface...whadaya think?? oh! I have 5 sm. hermits and a Lg turbon snail -1 small one, 2 bumble bee snails, and a cleaner shrimp in there now, too..oh and an Emerald crab.. lots of Lps and SPS in there too....sorry for the scattered posting ..but..! LOL

i am looking for thoughts or recommendations for adding some fish to my 75g dt, 20g sump/fuge with serious chaeto growth, 80 lbs lr, r o dual recirculating skimmer, ect... i believe i would like to add another small group of fish to the 75g, in a couple weeks. wondering about compatibility and if there would be enough space for them?

i am debating between a couple more firefish or... a male and couple female anthias. possibly ignitus, squareback, or carberryi.

i am also open to suggestions for others. i am looking for something to swim in the upper / middle of the water column, reef safe, and with some flash to them.

current stock...

- pair of cellaris clowns

- purple firefish

- orange spot goby

- tail spot blenny

- blue manderin, who has a fatter belly now then when i got her

so... think it would be alright adding another small group? suggestions?

This thread is designed to allow you to check your fish purchases before you buy. It is not designed to provide feedback after you buy because it is then too late. Plans can be changed, current inhabitants cannot. Also, I suggest you develop a quarantine protocol.

firefish, long term, will only exist as singles or bonded mated pairs. Anthias, in groups, really need larger (longer) tanks.

- blue manderin, who has a fatter belly now then when i got her Unless your tank is fairly mature, it is premature to add a mandarin; also be sure you do not introduce any copepod competitors. Remember, that this tank size is borderline for mandarins.

so... think it would be alright adding another small group? suggestions?

snorvich, the mandarin eats frozen food. I have had her for several months and she has a larger belly now then when I picked her up. She was eating frozen before I got her.

So, any other suggestions? Size wise and with the current stock is it reasonable to expect to have a decent chance of success with adding another small group? Possibly smaller reef safe wrasse?

all mandarins eat frozen but that does not guarantee success. After a year, you can treat it as a success since the mandarins primary food will always be copepods.

As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. Groups of fish in your sized tank do not stay as a group. Anthias, because of their social interaction when haremized, do best in a longer tank.

Your tank is large enough to sustain one. You can increase the odds in your favor a bit by creating "pod piles" in your DT which are piles of live rock rubble. This will give the copepods a place to breed where they will not be immediately consumed. Also, you can see the chaeto in your refugium with copepods which will enhance the population in a safe location.

How about a male and a couple female mccosker wrasse?

They should do well. A female is sometimes difficult to find but worth the effort because the nuptial coloration of a male when courting is extraordinary.

I have a new 90g setup mixed reef
I am considering damsel fish only. There are so many types/colours out there wondering if they can be mixed? Also, how many?
Thinking first about chromis but what I read is they tend to kill each other off until one is king. Is this the same with damsel fish?

No, although chromis are damsels, damsel fish of various species can coexist. Other fish may be difficult to add, however.

Quantity is difficult. I would avoid the truly aggressive ones like three spot and stick with the brilliant colorations that are only "semi aggressive". It will also depend on your aquascaping.

Unfortunately, it is complex because certain fish, angels and tangs, (but not only those), once established have territorial imperatives that they will try to maintain. The larger (longer) a tank, the more that territorial imperative can be "managed". So adding a Chevron and Powder Blue together means that neither is established but if you are adding a conspecific in the case of fish replacement, it can definitely be a problem. Zebrasoma are the worst tangs for territory. Some people rearrange the aquascape, but that is infeasible in reef tanks. Other strategies involve removing the territory loving fish and reintroducing after the newcome. Difficult strategy at best.

Should my chevron pass before the powder blue I can deal with having only the powder blue around for awhile. But here's hoping they both live long healthy lives.

1 Kaudern's Cardinal
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
1 Diamond Watchman Goby
1 Spotted Mandarin
1 Tailspot Blenny
1 Lineatus Wrasse

Current QT -(40gB) inhabitants:
4 Bartlett's Anthias

Plans:
Once I transition my Anthias to the DT I plan to QT the powder blue and chevron.

- Is a 40gB sufficient to have both of these in for QT or should I do QT the chevron and then QT the powder blue roughly a month+ later when the chevron transitions to the DT?

may be ok for short term but I would prefer serial QT due to the activity level of the powder blue

Female Lineatus (I have been unsuccessful in finding one). female fairy wrasses in general are difficult to find since they tend to be less colorful than males. If you can find a small juvenile, however, and place it with a mature male, it should become female

I have put together a small list of what I think I want in my 90g tank with a 20g sump, 110 lbs of dry rock, 5 lbs of live rock, and 60 lbs of live sand. It is still cycling but just thinking of what someday I would like to have in the tank. Im new to this hobby so not sure if these fish will even work together. Thank you for your advice

steve, what about several male wrasse of different types such as a mc coskers, red head salon, exquisit, and a labouts?

will male wrasse of different types get along?

after thinking about it further, thought this might be a nice option due to the brighter coloration and easier availability.
