have a 92 gallon FOWLR with the following fish:

2 clowns
1 blue/green chromis
1 royal gamma
1 kaudern cardinal
1 convict blenny
1 rabbit foxface
1 vrolik wrasse
1 blue spotted puffer
1 coral beauty (currently in quarantine)

I had consistently read that the blue spotted puffer has a "peaceful" disposition toward other tankmates, but would go after invertebrates and nip at corals (not an issue for my tank). I have had the puffer in my DT for only a couple of days and have had no issues at all. He is eating well and has not bothered the other fish. However, the more I'm reading I'm getting concerned about the puffer potentially being a bit aggressive toward my other fish.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

After 8 weeks of my 50 gallon FOWLR being fallow I want to start restocking my tank.

So the first fish will reenter the display tank after 12 weeks of being fallow? If so, that is fine.

Here is my wish list... of course I will only add them after QT. I have a 10 gallon QT and a 20 gallon QT. are you doing tank transfer?

1. Toby Puffer Fish I am not sure about combining a toby puffer and a filefish. I think they will be ok, together but can not say for sure.
2. Faintail Orange Filefish (can toby puffer and filefish get along? I understand they cant get along with another of their species and that some filefish are considered mimicks of the puffer fish?)
3. Randalls Shrimp Goby
4. Tailspot Neon Wrasse you mean neon goby or hoevens wrasse?
5. Flame Angel OR Coral Beauty OR Potters Angelfish (does anyone do better then the other? I have tried Flame angel 3x with no luck but that was before I did the ich fallow tank treatment?) all are similar behavior; potters is a bit more difficult
6/7 I am debating w adding 2 percula clown fish to this tank. If this can work.. I might add the tank raised percula clowns with the puffer?

I Have a new tank 66 gallon tank with a 6 gallon sump 3 x 2 x 2. 35 kg live rock.

My intended fish are sorry, but none of those tangs would do well in this sized tank especially with a dwarf angel

2 x percula clowns

1 x royal gramma

1 x coral beauty angel

3 x cardinal depends on species

1 x Yellow tang

3 x chromis will become one over time

1 x dragonette marginal in this sized tank, but should wait until it is 9 months mature for best chances

1 x chevron tang

Thank you for the quick response! The clowns are occelaris (sp?) clowns. I agree on the foxface, as it grows I will have to replace it. I assume you do not have an issue with the coral beauty being eventually added to my DT? Thanks again!

Just acquired a 75 Gal Bowfront. Will have a 30 gal sump. Total of 100 lbs live rock with a 2" sandbed. I can't give specs on skimmers/dosers/etc. cuz I'm still researching as tank won't be setup until late summer.

Anyway. I GOTTA have a clown or two (I have 4 kids). I also want to have a wide variety of "colors". Purples, yellows, blues. I like a few of the firefish colorations. Would like a flame angel. PROBABLY a yellow tang.. and my 4 yr old would like a Dory (Blue Tang) though they seem kinda high level and I'm just a noob so if I DO get one it'll be one of my last fish a year or so down the road. Looking at dottybacks, blennies, I also think the foxface are some nice fish.

This will be a reef tank.

I don't expect to be able to put everything I listed above in the tank... just wondering what kinda options I have out there. I know everything I mentioned are kinda the "basic" fish, but I have zero intentions of spending $500 on a single fish until my experience and knowledge levels increase exponentially.

A. ocellaris are fine. No issues with the coral beauty except dwarf angels are not reef safe. Reef Central believes that you should only buy fish that you can home forever in the tank you currently have.

After an unknown virus wiped out all of the fish except a Flame Hawkfish in my 180 mixed reef, I pulled all of the corals and rock out, and I'm starting over. All of the corals are in QT, and all of the rock with undesirable polyps got nuked in a 55 gallon drum and currently curing. I ordered a 6ft wide 220 gallon tank, a Reef Octopus SRO3000, a Reeflo gold dart/snapper return pump, and a 75 gallon sump/fuge. I'm going to have a wave maker attached to the Koralia power heads also. I am going to have an SPS/LPS/Polyps/Clam tank with fish like I had. There will also be a couple hundred pounds of LR, and 200lbs of caribsea sand. My wish list for fish is:

Med Powder Blue Tang
Med Powder Brown Tang
Med Blonde naso Tang. "will end up in the 300 peninsula tank when he gets too big"
A school of Indian Ocean Lyretail Anthias 3F and 1M
A school of Firefish 3-5 total
Royal Gramma
Starry Blenny
Spotted Mandarin female
Red mandarin Male
Carpenters flasher wrasse male

PROBABLY a yellow tang needs a larger tank ..

they do not school and in the long term only the most dominant one will survive. And by the way, the anthias will loosely aggregate and not shoal either.

Unfortunately, there is no real schooling fish in normal sized aquaria. Cardinals will initial group together and then pair off into male female pairs. Anthias are the closest.

Snorvich, how long do you think I should QT the Flame Hawkfish? He's in with all of the corals in a "QT" tank. I figure the life cycle of what ever killed my fish should be about 45 days. He's been in QT for about that long now. He'll probably be away from any other fish for at least 2 months, do you think that will be long enough? I think they all died from Brooklynella/velvet.

With brook,velvet or uronema, two life cycles or about 6 weeks would be the minimum. If I were to guess, it would be one of those two given the mortality rate and timeline. For Ich, at least 70 days or 10 weeks, preferably 12 weeks.

No. As long as they have no fish for 6 weeks, that will be fine. My underlying concern is that this fish is one of the small percentage that developes immunity but that still means it is a carrier.
