Please Help My Fellow Reef Peeps, My Calcium Is Reading 500, Ppm. According To.......

salifert calcium test kit. the testing aquarium water turned light blue once the last drop of the syringe was added to the vial:confused: :( please help me lower my calcium...A.S.A.P! thanx my fellow reef peeps...what do i need to do? just tested my alkalinity also with salifert and the orange/pinkish/reddish color didnt turn up until i was at the last drop of the syringe, whats going on here? my calcium and alkalinity is off the charts, please help me, how do i get it back on track....:(

Stop adding additives and it should fall: turn off the calcium reactor and just let it rest a bit...and the water change. It's not great, but up to 450 is no disaster. Alk up to 12 is not great, either, but not fatal: just let the critters use it up, do some water changes, and watch out for calcium sheets and other nuisances in your sump; not to mention calcated algaes on your front glass, that are the very d-l to remove, but that should be the limit of the damage.
