So I picked up some Mexican turbo snails from my lfs and I noticed this on one of its shells. Is it a tube worm? It has like a feather duster that comes out when it's in water when it's not it goes back in.

Please advise. Not sure what to do with these guys. I've taken them out of my DT and put them in a container. I do have a qt but it has some chromis and a dottyback in it.

Sorry guys don't mean to keep bumping this thread just not sure what to do with the snails. There in a small plastic container right now. Don't want to kill them in it

I'm thinking tubeworm, safe. Hydroids are more brown and quite tiny.

See that tiny little patch of reddish brown to the left of that tube? That's what I was referring to. Kind of reminds me of Colonial Hydroids. The little white swirls are Spirorbid worms while that largest tube is probably a Serpulidae worm.

So the brown stuff does look like hydroids. I won't be putting this guy in my main tank. How do I get this off him? And prevent it from coming back?

Like I said on your other thread the small volcano looking things are barnacles, I can't make out he white thing just looks like a blurry white blob.

I don't see anything even remotely like hydroids on the snails - just harmless and beneficial filter feeders. I, too, have thousands of them throughout my systems.

Tough to tell. But I had colonial hydroids and they looked very similar.

Can you get another shot that has them in better focus?
