Hello reef central i need immediate help.
Recently bought three new fish
Yasha gobie
Two b. cardnial
No did not quartine and im paying the price..the cardnials stop eating withing a week and died.. i thought it was iridovirus. I didnt see any signs of sick till last two days which were white stringy feces redish gills.. now my royal gramma is breathing heavy.. im starting to think fluke???
Remaining fish are
Gramma (breathing heavy)
Ywg
Yasha gobie
Two clowns

Beyond the stringy feces and irritated gills, are there any other symptoms? Are any of them eating? If you haven't already, I'd pull your fish and put them into a hospital/QT tank and treat with Prazipro.

You may have flukes, but they don't kill that fast nor are that contagious.
I'd do formalin baths everyday or every other day and place bathed fish into new qt tank water--wash qt tank w/ tap water and dry while fish are in bath.

The gramma should be the priority but I don't think it would be wrong to prophylactically treat everyone else; especially since you've lost other fish as well.

The only fish ever to die in my tank were the newly bought b cardnial died within a week about a week later the gramma has been breathing heavy for two days not eating. My tank is two years old never had sick fish till i put the cardnials.. so im trying to medicate but not sure what to medicate with

I'm not an expert, but if you suspect flukes, you can do a freshwater dip in a dark bucket and see if any flukes drop off. That would at least tell you what you are dealing with. Seems like a parasite of some kind in the gills causing that heavy breathing.

So last night i treated my reef with prazipro.. woke up this morning and my gramma is still breathing heavy (day 3).. my question is does a fish with flukes see immediate relief or does it take time? Should i wait or take more measures to treat for someting else? Also the b cardnials that i think contaminated the tank might of been carrying iridovirus. Is that contagious to other fish? Would it cause heavy breathing with no other signs?

Also my other fish seem fine still.. gramma eat a little after i dosed and seemed to get a little relife but still heavy has breathing

There are some strains of flukes that are much harder to remove with the standard dose of Prazi Pro, you can dose 3x the amount that is recommended. I do this whilst putting my fish through the TTM.

Also that he hasn't gotten worse he seemed to have gotten a little bit better since used prazipro.. should I give him another half a day before taking more action

Just a thought have you checked your Ammonia levels lately?
High Ammonia is toxic to any life in you tank, the in flamed gills could be burns maybe?

Im at work now.. i hoping when i get home i see some improvement.. i will always quartine from now on, lesson learned.. i hate for my fish to suffer
