This is my sump now, I am pretty sure it is a 20 gallon. My dispay tank is 90 gallons. I want to add a refugium into the system. I am plan on growing chaetomorpha only. I may add a deep sand bed in the future, but I need the nitrate reduction capabilities from just the macro for now.
This is my cabinet with my sump. (Please excuse the bioballs I am in the process of removing them) The only free space I have is what you see to the right of the sump. It is measured 16" deep, 23" wide, and 24" tall. I was planning on just using a 10 gallon aquarium and using it for the refugium, but I hear that will be almost pointless with a 90 gallon display. So, please help me configure a way to accomodate the largest refugium that yall see neccessary. Leaving room for a light of course. This is the light I am going to use, I have heard some good things about it.
It is pretty simple plumbing so far. The clear pipe to the right is the return.
I was planning on just moving that white pipe over to the refugium, so it would be gravity fed, and then just running it to the sump where it is now, from the refugium. I hear it is a bad idea to skim after the refugium though, because of the pods and such? Also, that may be too much flow through the refugium? What are your suggestions?
