Got this from Atlantis Aqauraium and was labelled as Vanuatu Golden Wrasse, it's type of fish which has very docil and peaceful disposition but likes to jump when harassed. He eats like a pig and currently is housed with Scott's, Solaransis, Mystery, Labouti and lepard wrasses.

Here is one

Another one of better shut.

Thanks for you help.

definitely some sort of a fairy wrasse.. how is your Mystery Wrasse behaving with it ? They can be a lethal combination.. but each tank and fish are different :)

EDIT : Definitely a nice looking fish :)

If that is what it is, then it is also known as the pink/red margin fairy wrasse (actually on our list once we get the mesh top built for our tank)

juaninsac, thanks for ID on that one, the one on the picture you posted looks much more colorful than the one I currently have, neverthless, I love all my wrasses as they are so beautiful and easy to care for, except the jumping part. Right now I have the 2 big Luminar 3 over the tank, just hoping none of them would shatter the MH bulbs by jumping straight to them.

Tom, the mystery is behaving very peacefully towards everyone because I introduced both the pink/red margiin and Labouti at the same time. I believe Atlantis might still have one available if you are interested, I am sure Ming will make you a good deal, since you are travelling from far far away. :)

Ours took a while to color up after we got it home and acclimated (from our old tank.. where we lost most all of our faires in a crash), so just give yours some time :)

As for picking one up from Ming.. not until we can get our mesh top finished...no fairy wrasses or other jumpers until the top is built, and that is on hold until we can get in some more mesh. Thanks for the heads up though :). Ming usually hooks us up with decent deals because we usually leave there alot lighter in the wallet then when we walked in :)

it's a Cirrhilabrus pylei or pylei wrasse

Man I really should have trusted my gut. Those damn pelvic fins did look way too long for a rubrimarginatus. :) Can't say I've seen a pylei with that much red in the dorsal and caudal fins before.
