Here's mine guys.

I played around with the camera a little, not sure how to shoot.

Me real baby is the Cape Dory 28. I borrowed a $200 camera vs. my crappy $100, so I had use take advantage of it.

Cayecaulker, It's realy nice to see awesome tanks that are "reasonably sized". Most TOTM are Huge and can cost a fortune to have and maintain. To see all these awesome tanks that are simply equiped is refreshing. No closet full of sumps, chillers, or lifesupport systems. Just some good'ole T5's and simple sumps and requirements. To me, the enjoyment is actually looking at and relaxing by the tank, not measuring, toppingoff, and constant fiddling with the tank. Keep them coming guys. I know they are lots more out there.

Anyone here go from 400w MH to T5 ? Im thinking of doing so and I have 2 400w MH w/ 2 110w VHO Actinic and thinking of going w/ the ATI 10 x 54w set up

I did, and the T5s bleached some of my SPS because I underestimated them.

I went from 400W MH and the T5's initially almost wiped out my SPS. I am timid about replacing my bulbs this summer as I do not want a minor bleaching episode.

sunnyx, i replace my t5's every 9 months and no problem bleaching sps. i change all at the same time

I've only had a "small" problem when changing the type of bulb....
I swapped out a current 10k for a UVL aqua sun......things lightened up but adjusted within a few weeks

Does anyone have any suggestions or an acclimation schedule when making the swith from MH to T-5's. I'm looking to switch this weekend.

Depending on how much MH you had and how much T5 you are going to, you need to be very careful. Some have fried their stuff by only reducing the photoperiod. In the words of one of the scientist-types 'photosynthesis can crank up very quickly'. A better method is to use several layers of screen atop the tank, and remove a layer every couple days.

Greg,
It's 3 x 250 HQI converting to 6 x 80 watt T5's. It's actually a lot less wattage. Intensity's another issue.

Its funny that people get their corals bleached when going from MH to T5s.... Yet there are still people who doubt the capabilities of T5s when it comes to SPS lol. I'll be going 10x80w Power Modul on my 225g. This thread is encouraging.

JFlip - still say 8x80w is more than enough ;)

Sunny - I replaced my bulbs in waves. I figured that the bulbs that I run sunrise/sunset are on for 4 hours more every day, so I replaced those first, then a few months later switched out others, and have had no problems when switching bulbs. (I actually have 3 banks of 4 bulbs, so I can do it in three phases, but even two phases should help some.)

Hey t5ers,

I have seen some awesome looking, colorful tanks & have a couple of questions. I have 1 4x24w setup & have not been able to find my combo, but have recently settled on 3 blue plus & 1 ge 6500k....& of course the sps I keep are directly under the ge6500k. Will this effect color or will it be fine with the other lamps in combo? Bulbs are 2-3" above water. Also, if anyone could post pics of sps under this bulb that would be great.

Reefboy12 - depends on the SPS. Most acros are found in shallower waters where light is closer to 10k (with a few deepwater exceptions), as are plating montis, whereas most enrusting montis are found in deeper waters and thus do better under bluer light. It really varies by species tho and those are generalizations - look up the natural habitat for the species you have and that should give you a better idea (deeper in nature = bluer light). As for a combo, I'd try 2 Blue Plus, 1 ATI AB Special, and 1 Fiji Purple, or 2 Blue Plus and 2 ATI AB Special. I think you might be finding the need to go with 3 blue plus because the ge 6500k is overpoweringly yellow and if you go with a crisper white bulb like the ATI AB Special, you won't need to blast it with so much blue light to get the color you want.

I'm looking to get a bit more of a blueish color. What would you suggest. The light fixture is a tek running 6 bulbs with a mix of sps and lps. These are the bulbs I've got to play with and what I'm currently running.

Ft
blue +
aquablue special { ? 75/25 here }
blue +
figi blue
aquablue special
blue +

The tanks abit to white for my taste. How is the bulb placement?
I've only got 2 other bulbs to play with. 75/25 & aquablue special.

Thoughts anyone.

I would do this:

FRONT
blue +
Fiji Purple
blue +
Blue+
aquablue special
blue +

This should give you a really nice blue look while making your corals "POP" .
