Very nice Mike! You both have the copperbands, arent they hard to keep? I thought they were hard to feed due to having a special diet, both of your are very healthy and I guess they dont bother the corals?

Amazing shot of the red sea sailfin! I've never seen a purple variant or is that funny lighting in the camera?

Fish load for my 180 as of today
Just added a chocolate tang today medium sized
Sailfin tang show size
5 royal grammas
flame hawk
GSM clown
figi blue with orange tail dasmel
unkown blue puseudochromis
11 fish
I'd like to add another 5-10 myself

eriksmacks, Do you have pics of the tank? 21 fish seems like alot of fish IMO, I guess if depends on the size of the other 10 fish, what are you wanting to add? You have to watch the bio load, and make sure you have a good skimmer.

Harlequin Tusk Wrasse .He is awsome!!!!! He does fit the saltwater fish type. Keep sending pics. Glad he is eating out of your hand. You said earlier that they are not reef safe? what do they bother?

Reef Compatible: With Caution

Keep only one per tank. Although they will not bother corals, they will eat any small crustacean such as snails or crabs.

I see you have 5 Royal Grammas... Do you have any issues with them ?? I have read alot about keeping them solo as they are aggressive towards their own as well as other basslets...

I have 19 April and plan to add 3 more and I'm done for good. The tang is a blue/purple color. It depends on his mood I think. It's an amazing fish though thrlide. Never thought I'd want a sailfin till I saw one in my LFS and then this one at another. My last 3 is just a school of anthias. Should be set then.

Hmm... 21 fish in a 180gal... I could have like 70 fish in my 600gal :) 120 if you count the total water volume :) (600gal mixed reef + 220gal FOWLR + about 200gal in sump / ref)ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦

April, I've had reef tanks for 15 plus years so I'm aware of basically everything in the tank and how to keep it alive and thriving. :) My first sp coral was in 1995 man time flies
20 fish in a 180 is not alot by any means.
20 large fish yes but you saw the list of fish I have

I started off with 10 royal grammas, but within the first week a alfa male kind arouse. He killed off all the other males in the tank so now I'm left with one male and 4 females.
THey all hang together on one side of the tank usually. I've seen the male do mating attacks with more than one female in a row so I'd say there living in a harem now. Pretty cool I think.

The other fish i plan to add will be like 5-6 not so commmon dasmel that will stay small, I like the black cap dasmel thats popping up now.
I'd like to due a couple pairs, like a pair of potters angles or a pair of argi angles.
And I want a Convict tang just because 99 of 100 tanks you look at you won't see one. There not really brightly colored like people think when you save saltwater fish and that appeals to me.
Kind of outside the norm for tanks.
A pair of blue throat triggers on the small side would be cool to but I'd worry about the snails and crabs getting picked off

I'll get a pic of the tank up when the lights come on, Bewarned I do have a byropsis outbreak that Im raising my ph to kill off now though. Man what a pain this stuff is

FWIW, he isn't a typical sailfin. He's the Desjardini Sailfin. Much more beautiful than a typical sailfin. Much more expensive too!

Here's mine:

Notice the pattern difference? They change patterns as they age.

Correct. I didn't want the regular sailfin. I wanted the desjardni from the red sea. Took me awhile to find him. The regular ones are nice but not enough for me.

I have a bit of fish but I take care of them well.
This is what I have so I don't think my bioload is that high.
2 clowns
1 watcherman goby
1 midas blenny
6 chromis
1 royal gramma
2 mandarins
5 tangs from small to large
1 copperband butterfly

I plan to add 3 anthias and be done with it.

I know you can't rule out fish per gallon or what not but I had 4 in my 44 so I don't see why you couldn't have at least 18 in a 180. I do have a 40 gallon sump so that helps some and I do plan on getting an 8' tank in the next 1-2 years for a fish only. So if I see a need to get the bigger ones out, I can put them in there.

Sorry guys, I was just trying to imagine 12 more fish in my tank. but all of mine are pretty large. 2 of my smaller ones disappeared last week. the Mandrine and 1 of the sand sifters. So I am down to 9 fish now. But it still seems so full. I wish I would have gotten the fish as juveniles. Hubby was freaking out about the big tank and 2 little bitty fish, so he went out and got the biggest ones he could. He was happy.

I didn't mean any harm when I made that statement. I hope you didn't take it, that I thought you didn't know what yuu were doing. I was just trying to visualize this tank with 12 more fish.

No harm at all. I wasn't worried about it just a little explaining. Mine have some growing to do so I'm not worried. Most of my tangs don't grow that fast so I'm good for 1 to 2 years easily.

Thanks, I didn't mean it to sound so hypocritical, sometimes typing it out doesn't come off as how it was meant. I'll watch that in the future! Anyway I have enjoyed all the new pics, and cant wait to see more.

And my Red Sea Sailfin pales in comparison to yours. he is a beauty for sure.

Do any of you know a good reliable place to get Cheato? I just bought some on line, paid $35 and there wasb't even enough to bother with. There were no life in the bag either, I was so hoping to have gotten something more than what I received. The guy I bought it from a year ago, doesn't sell it anymore.
