Please show pics of your 180 tanks

I'd keep the chromis. They don't add much for bioload. I'm torn for anthias to add as I heard the squared ones get really big. I think your stocking list is good imo.

Mike, I'm still 1 up on you, 51 and holding. LOL I'm not going to worry about it until I start feeling it.

I think we need more pics too! LOTS OF THEM

This is pictures from my 90. When the larger tank goes up this one will be torn down...

jay24k, my sailfin is a little smaller than that. He's probably more like 3 or 3 1/2".

I really want a naso when I upgrade to the 180. I don't plan on adding much more than that. Right now the stocking list is:

4 chromis
2 false percs
1 hippo tang
1 red sea sailfin tang
1 large goby
1 royal gramma
1 clown goby

I want to add a mandarin, a foxface and a naso tang. Maybe get rid of the chromis and get a school of 3 or 4 anthias and be done. This won't happen till the 180/210 though.

What do you guys think of that stocking list?

I love the list, and I agree with Jason, dont think I would get rid of the chromis either, I think a school of fish looks more natural to nature.not to mention,it would take foreveratural to catch them. I can tell you that the fish I posted earlier eat a ton of the red leaf lettuce and Romaine lettuce. 4 large leaves, they will eat it all in just a few hours, but,boy can they poop!!!

I think I would like a school of something, I tried it before, with the Banggai Cardinalfish, but they were very small and I could not get them to eat. and all 3 of them were dead in 3 or 4 days. I have the Cyclop-ese now so I may not have that trouble..The little guys just wouldn't touch anything, frozen, flakes or the tiny pellets.

Beautiful tank. thrlride, corals and fish look very healthy. Thanks for posting. Nevr can post too much. No,you dont want to get rid of the Chromis, they look great together. Just think how much fun they will have in the bigger tank!! THEY WILL LOVE IT

Jason, you have the ASM-G3? Is this one pretty much plug and play? Or is there alot of tinkering to get it going correctly. mine should be here in a few days.

Well thrlride, I see you own one too, do you like yours? Ive wanted one forever,And everytime I went to order it, somethin else would come up. I'm pretty excited to be getting one, I just hope its pretty easy to set up. The hubby likes to look at the tank, thats as much as he does with it. So its up to me to figure it all out.

Hey! I was reading on the ASM skimmers on the other sites, All of the owners did a mod on the skimmers. Wont these work well without doing all of the extra modifications?

Should work well. I plan on doing one of the mods. The gate valve one. I have a G3 and I feel it works great. I'd like to go bigger but am unable to due to sump size.

I like my G3 skimmer and I did the gate valve mod. Very easy mod and makes adjusting really easy.

When I upgrade to the 180 I will pick up the ASM G4x with a gate valve mod. :)

Very nice tank thrlride! I love your aquascaping, coral selection, and fish. Its a shame you can't just leave it alone and set up a seperate 180. But I know how that goes. My wife says one tank only! She's smart, cause if I had my way we would be swimming around the house!
Thrlride, what lights do you use? How often and how much water do you change? What supplements if any? And do you use carbon or phosphate removers? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm missing something and am trying to fugure out what it is. You clearly This new tank has been stubborn to reach a stable point!

Hey April I know what ya mean your as old as you feel I still think I'm 25 :eek1: as far as the mod on the skimmer goes its not something you have to do but if you would like to quiet it down it works great. I did it to my Euroreef skimmer when it was upstairs and it really cut down on the noise. The 180 is in the basement so I don't really care how much noise it makes I have a ASM G-4 on that tank and it works just fine without the extra expense of the gate valve.

Thrlide,

I love the lighting. Have you had good growth with your bulbs? I really like my lights but wish it had a b it more blue. My blue tort has grown really fast and it's amazing how fast it spreads. I'll have to post some growth pics.

One suggestion. When you move over, I would move over as much water as you can. I've seen it in two tanks now (1 was mine) when switching to the 180, alot of color loss, bleaching, and soft/lps just not doing well. I don't know why but if you could, run both tanks and when the 180 is stable, then switch.

I have a feeling maybe it's with the new saltwater being a big difference in make up(metals, chemicals, etc) since it's basically like doing a 100% water change. Perhaps it is like running phosphate remover. You remove the phosphate so fast, corals just go nuts.

Ok 1st...Pictures aren't that great and I was in a hurry to snap em and didn't find good old ones.

Anyway, These pictures are from september. I'm getting really amazing growth out of these guys.

Very nice Jay24K!!!! Keep us posted with the growth pics. Thaey are awesome. Could you also answer the questions I asked Thrlride, minus the lights since I see that anwers at the bottom of your post?

Great pics Jay, Are you running a dsb or bb?
And how long have you had those starfish there sweet looking
My blue linkia is going on a year.

The orange over a year and the other (always forget the name off the top of my head) just a couple months but it's dropped 2 arms that are moving around (really wierd watching them move).

I'm running a mixed SB. Right side is DSB and left side is mainly a thin sand bed. Back of my tank is a DSB also. I also have a remote DSB in my sump.

Cedriss:
How often and how much water do you change?
Every 1 to 2 weeks, I change out 20 gallons.
What supplements if any?
I make my own calcium and use baking soda. That's it.
And do you use carbon or phosphate removers?
Carbon maybe once every 2 months and haven't used any phophate removers.
