Please show pics of your 180 tanks

I'd buy 3 of the sponges and change them out every 3 months. Or if you have your return tubing at an angle, you can avoid the noisy toilet sound. I didn't have an issue but it's up to you.

If you clean the sponges on a 3 to 4 day basis, you won't have any issues at all with nitrates.

Been away from mytank for 6 days. I'm in Tennessee right now in the stupid mountains driving back. Talk about ear popping. Hopefully everything is good. Had a buddy watching my tank.

I avoid the sponges for the reason you mentioned (nitrates) as well as if they get too dirty, they can cause a overflow! But they do help quiet things down. I would clean them atleast once a week!

Hey, here's a pic of my new DIY calcium reactor. It isn't pretty, but is generally working. Has a small leak which seems to have sealed itself up. Also, just measure water and kH is 16 and Ca is 410. Not sure what to do about that high kH? Any ideas or comments appreciated!

I'd worry about 16 dkh! Add calcium until it gets higher and the dkh is much lower. I run mine near 10.

Ok heres another one, got alot of practice to do but they aren't to bad lots better than my old camera.

reelheel, I missed those measurements earlier. Thank you very much for getting them for me!

The way my frame is made the 2x4 will get in the way of the bulkheads so I need to route out a good bit of wood in that area. I had to do the same thing on my 90 so this time I was prepared. The reason I needed the size from frame to bulkhead on the back was so I know how much to remove.

Sure, thrlride, that makes sense. If the tank were off the stand, I would be able to get more accurate looks at everything. Good luck with getting everything up and running. I know how that goes; I'm working on my new prop system as we speak. Seems like I'll never get it all done!
Oh, and you'll love the 180...they're Grrrrrrrreat! LOL ;)

ericsmack, nice Tang how big is he?

Are you all saying I can pull off the sponges in the overflow box and it wont hurt anything? and the sponge on the ASM, it wont hurt taking that one off too? I just dont want to start screwing things up, but I have always had high nitrates, cant ever seem to get them down for long, I am hoping the new skimmer will help with that too.

And Mike your just teasing again with the 2 pics, your being stingy you know. you have your new little toy and wont share the pics!!!

cediss, I hope you like the new calc reactor. I'm safer with just adding my Kalk. I have enough trouble figuring out what I have already.

Jason, are you back now? Is all ok with the tank? Gosh a week away from the tank, that would be a killer. My kids would have mine a mess.

Hi all! I hooked up my Little Giant today and besides the noise , I have all of these micro bubbles, I put a piece of PVC on both of the hoses that drain into the tank below, it was horrible before I did that, but how do you get this to not get bubbles at all?

Hes like 2 1/2 inches cute little bugger. Hes always picking at the rocks
And his white color really stands out against the purple rocks and colorful sps's
If he makes it, It will be my favorite addition to my tank so far

Yea I'm back. I ended up buying a bunch of stuff yesterday and this morning so I'll get some new pics up.

Tyree chalice, tyree Acropora loisettae, a nice colony (not sure of the name), and about 7 other pieces from purple/pink mille with blue tips and blue milles, to a nice efflo piece that I got a nice chunk by getting of the bottom plates so it's only partial colored up.

I get frags from fellow reefers. Locals are amazing at picking stuff up. The Tyree frags I got were huge. The acro is about 4.5 inches long and the chalice is about 2-3 inches around.

Only bad thing was I had to move rocks around to fit room for the the new stuff. However, I think the items are looking better now and you can really see some of the nice stuff. Two of the full sized colonies I got were about 4 inches in diameter and about 5" tall and the other is probably almost 6" in complete diameter.

The big one I got was from store credit. I finally find a place to buy my Xenia and he is closing down at the end of december.

Thats great, I wish there were more reefers here to swap with. They aren't abundant here I guess, One of these days, I have to go to one of the CORA shows. They are our local club, but it's still a distance for me to go.
When our LFS gets frags, and they ae small frags, about maybe 1 to 2 in acapora's he sells them for 25 and 35 each. I just cant see that for them. not that small, and he gets the prettiest Grape Frogspawn from somebody local, but there again, he sells them at the store for 75 to 90, they are pretty good size but it's still alot when you know he has gotten them locally.
I cant wait for you to show your new stuff.

I'm going to do some final mounting and then snap some pics when the lights come on. Some reefers around here are about average on their pricing however there is a couple few who really hook you up. I'm waiting for his superman monti and oregon tort to be fragged up.

Do you think those frag prices were high that I gave you?, or are they pretty normal, Maybe I am just thinking wrong. (which happens quite frequently)
