Please show pics of your 180 tanks

eriksmacks, thats good if he is eating well, he may be too small for the lettuce right now but the Spiralina flakes would be good for him too.. You are about as close to my area as anyone here, do you go to the Reef shows?

From a fish store, you can expect to pay 30+ for a small frag. If it is a nicer piece, then yes that is about right. I recently bought a frag from a guy on here for a red mille and it was 1 inch. It was 15 bucks but kind of disappointing because it's so small. I'm used to bigger pieces though but for 15 bucks, I guess you shouldn't expect much.

I tend to pick out the nicer ones so I end up paying more. However, alot of local reefers that have amazing tanks just want to thin it out so I get some pieces for cheap.

I dont mind the higher price either if they are really nice. I have looked at on line prices and the ones LFS carry for 35 I see for 15. If they were good starts and a little bigger, I would complain at all. 98% of the life in the tank comes from this same store. Maybe I need to venture out a little. I have dealt with this store now for about 25 years or more,
What do you use for monting? do you ese the epoxy putty??

I use large pvc T fittings, I put large rocks on top and then hide the fittings with rocks in front of them. It saves money, uses less water volume and allows me to get corals closer to the light.

I use a portland cement mixture a fish store here has kind of invented. it is basically a quick setting cement and works great.

Thanks. Sorry No pictures of the fittings, but they are just large, I think they were 6 inch T fittings, in a row standing on end in the back of the tank completely covered with rock.

Well it sure looks great! Can you take closer pic of the tank, maybe in 2 or 3 sections to see the rock better? And of corse the coral and the fish. Looks great from the pic above.

Not really just pictures in my gallery. I have to take more pictures and post them later I lent out my digital camera.

Yeah, I go to the shows and frag swaps. I helped start the cleveland area frag swapping a few years back which has become a mega event these days. I helped plan the last swap that C-sea host which was a hugh success for the club. Were getting ready to plan the next one soon.!
Why do you say he might be to small for lettuce though? Hes eating it right off the clip now, nori, that is? I think the problem people have with keeping convict tangs alive is that they come in with worms or other parasites that slowly kill them. I've got a close eye on him if anything looks wierd I'm going to pull him out and treat him in a seperate tank for worms.
talk to you later
Erik

Speaking of a superman monti, I just got one of those. I'll take a pic soon. I also got a blue yongei and a couple others I don't remember the name of.

Nice. I'm not a big monti danae fan but I'd like to get that one. I had a blue yongei from RM, but it RTN'd on me.

I'm hoping this one doesn't RTN. It was browned out when I got it so hopefully it will color up soon.

Thrlride, did you get the blue slimer from RM? I wish I had that piece again. It was really nice and I was getting nice growth.

April, hopefully I'll have some pics. I need to cement more things in and clean up some stuff.

Any of you have any sand issues in your 180? Mine has been setup just over 6 months and I can still see sand particles in the water. I can watch the sand swirl up and go up. I have to wave a pile off my caps every 2 days. I'm about to siphon this stuff up and go with southdown or a thicker sand.

Hey Jay,

I got this blue slimer from a local guy named Kip. Most of my corals are either from him or the former TOTM from July of '04, reefcrazed.

Mine is still brown from the transit and acclimation. I'm hoping to get some color out of it soon.

Here is a link to some new picutres I took of the tank:

If you have any pictures to donate we are trying to put together a calendar...

Anything in particular? I can get some nice pictures of a nice neon red bta and some nice torts. I also got a new acro that is absolutely beautiful from another reefer. HUGE colony. He had 3 and he wanted to get rid of one. I ended up picking it up for a great deal. Wait till you see this piece.

Does reefcrazed ship to you or is he from NC?

reefcrazed is just north of Charlotte so I am able to drive up there. I'm not sure if he ships or not. You can find kip though, I believe he ships.

I think we need invert pics like crabs and shrimp and clams. Any super colorful corals would be great too.
