pocillopora spots?

hi, i just got a pocillopora on saturday, so far it looks great, but tonight inoticed a few dark spots on it. when i looked closer, it seemed to be a dark ring around a retracted(?) or missing polyp. could this be polyp bail out? or something eating it? i don't have any fish that have ever gone after sps... yellow tang, firefish, ruby wrasse, bangaii cardinal, clarkii clown. i'm new to sps, i wanted to make sure it's ok.

250w MH, t5 actincis, oceanic 58, modded MJ1200s, mag7 return, great water params, up since february. i also got a stag that's doing great.

thanks.

I'm not positive but I think what you're describing is normal. I have two of them in my tank and once in a while a polyp or two will retract leaving a dark looking area but they always come back out... I've always assumed they caught a morsel to eat when they do it.

I'm still waiting for the "panicky parent" stage to pass me by in this hobby... it's been over six years now and no such luck. =)

When my Pollicis retract there are always spots on them...I remember the first time i saw them I thought I had redbugs....Boy I flipped out.

You know Mel, everytime I think I am over the panicky stage I come home to find that something bleached. So now in order to save my corals I stay in a constant state of panic.

For that matter everytime I congratulate myself on being an acomplished reefkeeper something bleachs. So now I stay humble and admit that I know nothing.

So I guess I will stay in the perpetiual state of a Panic riddled noob.

 I treasure the times I can actually fall asleep looking at my tank. It's amazing we can get any sense of relaxation from these things anymore...;)
