I have a 55 gallon with 2 clowns, a sea urchin, a fire shrimp, a bunch of live rock, a few corals and a live sand bed. I am currently just running a hob filter and doing frequent water changes. My question is- can I introduce pods into the tank with a hob filter and the stock that I mentioned? Would they be able to colonize? The tank has been set up for a couple years.

I recommend tisbe pods as they will colonize and breed within your rock work. Just introduce them after the fish have gone to sleep!
You can definitely add pods if you like. My experience is they balance themselves out and you won’t necessarily see them all the time (you likely have some already).
Adding more is never a bad idea but keep in mind that their population will depend on an available food source and the predation from fish.
Curious. 12 year old reef tank with big fuge. Lots of life and 2 fat mandarins. I see lots of critter but wonder if I would get benefit with something like this:

If you have a good population of 'critters' then I don't see a big point. If you think you'd benefit from other species, then maybe. I find in my refugium that different populations of pods come and go. Once I launched (seeded) an array of pods, they kinda figured out who would dominate this week and then who would dominate another week. 
If your pods are not micro algae eaters, then this set would probably launch that type in the refugium.
