Pond build sneak preview

Hey what has a 4250 gph pump is 5 feet high at the tallest and 4 feet deep at the lowest has 3500 gallons of water and has taken me all summer and is still not complete yet!??

If you give up then here is what my pond looks like today.

It holds a few bass and some bluegill and a diminishing supply of feeder minnows.:worried2:

I still have to complete the DG around the whole area and bribe Grant to help with the bridge once I am ready for it but at least the hard part is over. I am hoping to begin enjoying it more and working on it less as it nears the end. So far only a few problems and they have been pretty minor.

I am going to do a build video/slide show when it is all over as it sounds like you are camping near a stream every night. :dance:

Many more to come....p.s. Due to a prior engagement(one I didn't know about till today) I may not be there Friday but I am getting ready to devote more time to reefing again and look forward to my next meeting....Craig.

Looks outstanding Craig You have done a lot since I was there even. The edge looks great and the sand or gravel aroud the outside really finishes it off well. Nice job Craig and Erin. Grant :thumbsup:

The biofilter I made is supposed to work just like the Live Rock in our reef tanks. I have a UV in storage just in case of emergency but with the plants and a small bioload I should be fine. I talked with a guy who has done a similar project and he adds a little algae chemical once a year and is fine. Right now since it is winter and the pond is mostly shaded I have been doing great and with a few bigger goldfish eating some of it growth has been slow. Cross your fingers.

Grant, Yeah it is looking better with $450 of DG and a few more rocks I just might make it to the end.

Nice! If you want to improve the natural apperance then add some big rocks along the edge. Fill in with the littler ones:

Sounds like a good plan Craig. you can always put the uv in line and run it on a timer when you need to, the wattage that it needs to run is cheaper than buying the chemical.

Craig, the pond looks awesome. I am putting something together similar for a friend.
My fish are available for your pond at a very good price. $100 for that bad *** high fin banded shark. He is pretty big. Plus those big and slightly smaller koi. Call me to talk if you want some fish. My house is on the market and I will likely have to throw them in the deal so I would prefer they go to a good home and I get a few $$ from it.

That shark will eat the blue gill for lunch but that's an awesome price on fish, I wish I have a pond.
