Thanks Fonda. All three shots were cropped. I was trying to crop them to show the same polyps but the noob in me failed at that simple task :o All three shots were taken from about the same distance. In the original pix, the subjects got closer with each tube. I was trying to show the progressive sharpness of each photo b/c less of the original photo was cropped with each increase in the extension tube used.

Thanks Kenny for the info. I'm going to see about getting them. lol... I'm a newbie as well. And would have to practice also. :)
People have have them, swear they are worth the extra expense.

Kenny,

Thats terrible news. I feel your loss. Mine all went at once when the tank crashed. Is there anyway you can set up a temp frag tank? I would try to get frags of at least all your favorites. Maybe that way it won't be a total loss, before you can find out the problem.

Well, the carnage continues................ :( Just fished out a couple more white skeletons. I don't know whether I want to cry or simply give up on keeping colored sticks if the mysterious epidemic continues.....Here is the toll to date:

-4/5 of the Cali tort that was basketball size. The remaining 2 branches are not looking good.
-almost fist sized Oregon tort
-1/2 of a 6"+ colony of Becker tort
-small colony of PM
-5"+ colony of Lime in the Sky
-Ice Fire echinata
-Red Robin stag frag
-Upscales microlados frag
-7"+ colony of a deepwater Acro

Where does it end??? :(

Kenny, do your corals have that dry look to them?

Oh man...I wish there was something more I could do other than to hope for the best.

Fonda, I don't have the time or the inclination to set up a temporary tank at this point, unfortunately. And when it comes to how long "temporary" is, I have a feeling it's going to be a long while. At this point, I am just going to systematically check and change everything, including the 55 gallon drums that hold the mixed saltwater. Whenever the carnage stops, I don't plan on adding any Acros for at least 6 or more months. Once I feel whatever the cause is has gone away or subsided, I'll slowly add replacements. I know enough people in this hobby that I am confident I can get good quality healthy frags back.

Ian, I am not sure what you mean by trhe "dry look". Most of the pieces STN'ed, but the Lime in the Sky RTN'ed. The tissue on the PM was blotchy at spots until it disappeared completely.

Dan, sometimes knowing that I have friends that care is enough :)

:sad1:

Mark, we sometimes talk of giving up when things look glum. But we know deep down that we'll eventually come back and hopefully better ;)

Sorry to hear the problems aren't going away Kenny. Keep your chin up, you've still got some incredible LPS at least.

So true Kenny. Our tanks are so frustrating at times and so rewarding at the same time.

You can say that again

Yep, the LPS and the Montis will have to be my fix for a while :D

I think I am dealing with the frustration part a little better nowadays. I remember back when I worry over every little thing. Now I know that some things are just out of our control and we should enjoy the good parts as much as we can.

You can say that again Kenny. I used to go haywire when I'd break a tip off of a coral. Now, my sand bed is covered with branches that have broke off :(

Sorry to hear kenny that more pieces are not doing well. hang in there and for sure some people that you dealt with and establish a relationship will help you re stock your SPS.. again hang in there ...

Thanks P3noY! I am very thankful of the friends that I have, near and far :)

Speaking of hanging in there, another colony lost the battle overnight. The larger PM colony is gone :(

I am afraid to come read your thread now :( Do you think anything could of accidently got into you tank sinceits in the garage?

Been away for a bit from this thread and sorry to come back to read about your SPS, Kenny. :( So sad to hear about that monster Cali tort that you had in your tank - that coral was amazing looking! I'm assuming that you've checked for bite marks and the like, since only acros seem to be affected so far? I've been battling with dinos for the last month or so so I feel your pain.
