Thanks Dan! As for the Acros, I just noticed some tissue recession on my large Steve Elias stag and part of one of two Purple Monster colonies :( I hope it's not spreading.

:( Crap Kenny...I'm sorry to hear that and hoping that they pull through. Still no adverse effects on your LPS? How about the montis?

Dan, it is what it is. Unfortunately in this hobby, the norm is you win some and lose a lot. I wished I could say it's the other way around, even for the most experienced of reefers. The LPS are thriving. So far, none of the Montis are affected yet and have great colors. The colors on most of the Acros are really off.

I hear ya man...I've read plenty of the RTN/STN threads on RC trying to learn what happened and many of them end in a mystery unsolved. Being what our tanks are (small closed systems) one contaminant, pathogen or parameter out of whack can quickly wipe out some or all of the inhabitants. It's fustrating because I've seen how nice and big some of your colonies are and to think of them dying off is dishartening. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stops soon.

Me too. I just did a large water change yesterday and getting water ready for another one this weekend. I installed a valve on the frag tank return pump to facilitate draining b/c I foresee more frequent water changes in the future.

Geez sorry you are having issues Kenny. Hope you get it figured out soon.
Do you still have your little red angler?

Thanks for the well wishes, Stacie. I am trying but no luck so far. Came home tonight to find 2/3 of the small PM colony white. I dipped it in Melafix and cut off a couple of good branches. We'll see tomorrow if they are still alive.

Yeah, still have the red one. I tried adding a black one a month or so ago. It disappeared after about a week. I may try again if I can find another one and see if they'll take small live guppies.

Kenny, hope you find the problem soon. It sort of sounds like what Kip went through. But let's hope not. Hows your frags doing? The BGM is going to look good next to the OME. They make quite a pair. :)

That is good after I saw your little guy I had to get one as well.
Mine does eat little guppies I feed him 2-3 times a week. I love that little fish so cool.

Thanks Fonda. They are doing just fine.

The trick is to keep the guppies alive long enough for the angler to get to them. It's so bloody slow. But I just love to watch it "walk" about the tank on it's pectorals and fish for food :D

On a sad note, I noticed that the Red Robin frag I got from you has some tissue recession :(

By having good and trustworthy friends :)

Having a good network of reefers definitley helps...Wait, the fed ex truck just pulled up :D

Playing around with the 100mm macro and the Kenko extension tubes. Still got lots to learn about using the combo but so far, the tubes do make a bit of difference. Here are some examples.

Just the 100mm macro

Macro + 20mm tube

Macro + 36mm tube

Looks good. I was debating on getting a set of the Kenko extension tubes. Is it just me or does it look like with just the Macro lens the pic of the zoos looks closer in the first pic?

Very Cool Kenny. So what are your initial thoughts on them?

I think they are worth the price so far, even though I haven't even gotten the hang of using them yet. With a lot more practice, they'll definitely improve some macro shots. They do bring the subject a little bit closer and clearer. For a below grade user like me, it sure beats spending $1500+ for a 150mm or 180mm macro :D

Thanks Fonda. All three shots were cropped. I was trying to crop them to show the same polyps but the noob in me failed at that simple task :o All three shots were taken from about the same distance. In the original pix, the subjects got closer with each tube. I was trying to show the progressive sharpness of each photo b/c less of the original photo was cropped with each increase in the extension tube used.

Well, the carnage continues................ :( Just fished out a couple more white skeletons. I don't know whether I want to cry or simply give up on keeping colored sticks if the mysterious epidemic continues.....Here is the toll to date:

-4/5 of the Cali tort that was basketball size. The remaining 2 branches are not looking good.
-almost fist sized Oregon tort
-1/2 of a 6"+ colony of Becker tort
-small colony of PM
-5"+ colony of Lime in the Sky
-Ice Fire echinata
-Red Robin stag frag
-Upscales microlados frag
-7"+ colony of a deepwater Acro

Where does it end??? :(
