I am afraid to come read your thread now :( Do you think anything could of accidently got into you tank sinceits in the garage?

I promise I'll only show pix of nice corals :D

I've thought about the possibility of something falling into the sump or the tank. I drained the sump this weekend and didn't see anything. There are netting over the tanks so anything like a coin won't make it through. In terms of other stuff floating in the air, they are just as likely to make it into any house. I usually keep a door open after the van goes in. But if it is something in the garage, why did it take so long to surface?

Been away for a bit from this thread and sorry to come back to read about your SPS, Kenny. :( So sad to hear about that monster Cali tort that you had in your tank - that coral was amazing looking! I'm assuming that you've checked for bite marks and the like, since only acros seem to be affected so far? I've been battling with dinos for the last month or so so I feel your pain.

I've checked but it's unlikely that an actual bug can cause such rapid tissue recession. What remains of the Cali will come out this week and we'll see if I can salvage a small frag or two. Good luck with the dinos!

WOW that's one way to increase your post count...... :)

 And I thought only Mr. P3noY has trigger fingers.

Today was one of the saddest days of my entire reefing career. I had to take out what remains of the Cali tort. It's showing signs of tissue recession so I didn't want to risk spreading whatever it is any further. Everything else so far seems to be ok, I can only hope. It's heartbreaking to throw the entire piece away. I didn't realize how big it was until after I had taken it out. One of the last two remaining branches was 15"+ long :( Now there is a gaping hole right smack in the middle of the tank :sad1:

To make myself feel better, I keep saying that at least the Montis and LPS are looking good. Here are a couple that I acquire recently. The first one has a lot of potential.

Sorry to hear kenny but hopefully your tank will rebound and whatever you have fragged willl be colonies in the future.. Atleast your LPS are ok ..I think those are really hard to replace.. ;)... Where's my... anyway hope is well

Sorry to hear about the trouble Kenny. On a side note, Thank you for the box today. The Key Lime looks amazing :eek1:

No worries, guys. Hopefully it won't get any worse than this. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Colored sticks will always be there, no matter what I may have said. It's too hard to just give up on them.

P3noY - clear your box!

Mark, glad you like it. Watch out for the sweepers on that thing. It's pretty nasty.

This one has some very interesting pigments on the body. Wonder what it'll look like once grown out.

I guess that's the price we pay for playing :(

Kenny,
so sorry to hear of the carnage. I know we talked about it a while back and your story is a replica of mine. How long has this been going on? I've been dealing with STN total carnage of only my acroporas since December. I have not wanted to compile a list because it would just bum me out even more. It is slow and thorough...whatever is happening in my tank. I only have two unaffected acroporas at this moment. LPS and montis are good for the most part. My montis have always been up and down in my tank for 5 years so when they start to look funky I know it is the same old something that I have never been able to figure out. This acropora demise is something very different. I am breaking down my tank and setting up a new one...not sure what to do with the acros...maybe try one or two healthy portions of what I have left when the new tank is set up and see how they do. I have the luxury of setting the tanks side by side for a period of time. Maybe just toss it all and start fresh.

Kenny, What would you do, toss all and start fresh or try and take healthy portions only and see if they take off in the new tank??
