Big Top Chalice? Now that I think of it looks like one of those big tents that they have circuses in.

I'm not really a huge chalice fan, but I have to say that's one of the nicest/wildest specimens I've ever seen! Out of curiousity, was that a random find?

sure was! me and my boss were at the wholesale picking out some goodies. I notice this piece in the corner and pointed to my boss that we should get it. Luckily my boss said it was ugly so i was able to pick it up for myself.

I'm going to have to disagree with the Tyree leg humpers in this thread and go with Sufunk on this one. Tyree has done much harm to this hobby through his creation of the "LE".

Now, everyone is cashing in on the LE craze, whereas before they would just sell their brighter colored stuff for a little more due to the rarity. Now, everyone's trying to create false rarity with these "LE" corals and setting the prices high.

A local chop-shop that sells LE corals even has the nerve to get angry with hobbyists that sell frags of a certain LE coral for less than what they sell them for. I've heard that if they sell large pieces of their corals (which is very rare because they usually sell <1/3 inch frags), they often tell these hobbyists that they can't sell these frags for less than their retail prices.

The whole thing has just created a system in which any nicely-colored piece is automatically either a "possible le", or deemed an "le" by someone and the prices are ridiculous considering the number of these.

Lol, i know the store you are referring to and they even have their lackeys down here in Fort Lauderdale.

Heres a CRAZY thought rduong: How about instead of worrying about what to name it and how much to sell frags on ebay for, you just put it in your tank and ENJOY this great find. The freaking thing barely got into your tank and is still showing skeleton and your only thought is how fast you can chop it up and sell it to the highest bidder.

If you guys think THAT is what reefkeeping is about, i feel SORRY for you and understand why you are on Tyrees jock so hard!

But hey, this is what the great Steve has transformed reefkeeping into. Buying corals for the SOLE purpose of fragging them and raping people. Get lucky and buy something for MAYBE $100, then immediately chop it into 20 $250 dollar frags. If people think that is supply and demand, they really need to retake economics.

p.s.- everyone can save their poor little sob stories about how much Steve hass done for this hobby and how little he's taken out of it. Save those lies for someone who might actually believe them;)

Wow:rolleyes:

Now were just all a bunch of leg humpers on Tyree's jock, oh how could I ever possibly argue with that intellect...

I think we've all been 'sufunk'ed'! :p

Again Sufunk, do what you have to do to enjoy your hobby, but don't criticize others because they choose to enjoy it differently than you.

Who is on Steves jock? Many of us know him personally and speak from first hand experience when we say that you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about...

Why do you keep posting here anyways? This is the LPS forum, not the Lounge

I believe that regardless of your personal opinions about the current coral trends it is really uncalled for to bad mouth Steve Tyree. I personally feel that he has done a lot for our hobby (and his).

Chalice stalking seems to be a growing problem around here.

:D

Wow, great thread for entertainment reading!

Back to the original chalice posted, it's a beauty and I wish you luck on your sale of frags!
