Post your rare frag pic for the MARS swap April 16

Dremel baby! Zip zip, done. With my pectinia I slip a rubberband over a lobe I want to sever and then wait a few weeks for the tissue to part. Then, zip zip with the Dremel on the skeleton. The last time I made a frag, a tiny piece of the tissue flicked up into my eye (no safety glasses) and burned like mad. It left a red spot on my eyeball for more than a month! Moral of that story: always wear eye protection.

If you have any question as to whether your coral will be considered rare, please post a pic on this thread.

I'm also bringing misc. zoos, tubipora, xenia, a leather or two...

EDIT: not the whole rock of the people eaters, mind you but several polyps each frag.

as far as sps 1 is great. Is 5 the sunset coral? and what's the lineage on the last one?

Jim can chime in on the LPS and shrooms.

Rob

Rob - here is numbered list with lineage.

1. "Superman" - Basically red polyps on blue base m.dunae from Jesus.
2. Pretty richordea against neon softie. Richs and neon sofie from Tubs (John)
3. Pink Challice from Pam
4. Orange Challice - Actually Rob (Jus Reefin), who got it from Dr Le, rainbow challice that has turned bright orange in my tank - pic doesn't do it justice.
5. Steve Tyree LE m.verdussa. From Berlin Method (Kris), who got it from Tyree.
6. Green Challice from Jim (I think)
7. Orange encrusting montipora from Tubs (John).

ReefNutz - LMK if you still have that big ole colony of cali tort and/or Tyree soli as I'd like to add more of both to my collection. VBG

Got a nice piece of efflo from Ming (Atlantis) but need more!!

PS Rob - if you tell me what family/species 'sunset' is I'll look around my tank, since there are few folks I haven't traded frags with... Man, these 'marketing names' need to go...

PPS I'm looking for some of Rommell's purple monster. Saw some in his frag tank the last time I was there but the frags were spoken for. That coral has just unbelievable color. Anyone have some that they've grown out?

Rob - ahh, Tyree states that the 'sunset' is prolly 'Montipora foveolata, Porites australiensis or similar coral'.

Let me look up the m.verdussa as I might be misspelling it.

[edit]

If I had to guess I'd say m.aequituberculata. Tyree misspells it on his site:

http://www.reeffarmers.com/limitedmontiporaaquit.htm

See Corals of the World by Veron, Page 77, picture 8. Mine looks just like picture 8 except that it had fluorescent green columns/tubes.

Most of what I have are mini colonies:lol:

I'll most likely start a thread this Friday for side trades during the MARS Swap. We can hammer out the details, then:thumbsup:
